Same problem, clean light flashes 7 times and dishwasher won't start.

The water is plenty hot enough, can't I bypass this?

  • sammoura69 Jun 17, 2008

I try to turn on the dishwasher, but the clean LED keeps flashing and the dw wont turn on. the instructions on the door panel say to press the energy save button to clear it. I tried that several times, and still flashing. then I unplugged the dishwasher power and plugged in twice and the problem persists. I looked in the service manual and it says that heating ciruit needs service. Looks to me like the dw is in a locked up state, can I clear that? or if the heating circuit needs repair, im pretty handy, can you advise

I tried the following sequence, as recommended on a similar blog and it worked!
Open door
Quickly press :
Hi Temp Scrub
Energy Saver Dri or Heat Dri
Hi Temp Scrub
Energy Saver Dri or Heat Dry
Close door
All lights should come on
then clear and revert to cycle.

took me a 2 days to find the right code this worked great, thanks for the post

A month ago our dishwasher was working just fine and suddenly decided it wouldn't start anymore. After being without the dishwasher now for about a month and out of town, home again we decided to see if we could get it to work again. Reading all of the comments posted, first, since the dishwasher is hardwired, we turned off the power at the breaker for about 15 minutes. That didn't do anything. We took the kick panel off and there was nothing there to tell us what to do. I read here of the 'code' to use and it acts like its going to work but when I push the 'normal' button, it clicks over to 'rinse only' and back to 'normal' then back to 'rinse only' and it rinses the dishes. The dishwasher only stays on for about 3 minutes, rinsing. Then nothing again. When it first went out a month ago, I called KitchenAide and they said that there is no longer a keypad available for this model. And the girl said that IF I could find one, it would probably cost about $350 for the part and a technician would have to replace it. She wasn't very encouraging nor was she helpful. If the part costs that much, and if I had the money, I would BUY a new dishwasher and I don't know that I would buy another KitchenAide only because of the twit that I had to speak to when I called in. Does anyone have any other suggestions or know of where I could find an inexpensive keypad? Thanks in advance for the help.

Had the same problem and just fixed it myself.Have the door shut then open just a crack and within 3 seconds press high temp scrub and then the energy save button and then the high temp scrub and the energy save button again close door and press cancel. It worked right away.Sometimes it happens because there is another problem. So if it happens again it means there is another issue

Salvy Control is programmed to stop the current cycle and not allow any further cycles if it suspects a faulty heater (no temperature increase detected in heated intervals). Control blinks the Clean LED 7 times in repetitive fashion and disables the Start/Resume button. There could be three parts involved in this problem. If you feel like you can do it yourself, let me know and I'll give you step by step instructions. Also, you can find the trobleshooting procedure in a pouch attached to the back of the bottom panel. You have to remove two screws to open it. Gendos...post back

Clean light blinking

If the clean light blinks four times and then pauses and then blinks four times again and repeats, the problem is your pump motor. If there is water under the DW the pump clamp has probably failed and sprayed water onto and inside the motor. Call a certified Kitchen Aid repair service.

Clean light flashes on my KitchenAid KUDS01DJ and it wont run

My dishwasher did the same thing. The repair guy fixed it and told us how to reset next time it happens: press: Hi temp then Energy saver then Hi Temp then Energy saver do this quickly over 5 seconds all the lights should come on Then, turn off the breaker for one minute then, go back to the dishwasher and press cancel. All the lights should turn off. Start dishwasher as usual. If the cause was just a brain fart, the dishwasher should work.

Kitchenaid dw won't go on

Salvy, see if you can get out of that fault by pressing, in this order within 6 seconds. Heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal. If you don't have those keys try- high temp-air dry-high temp-air dry. This is the service cycle, all lights should light up and the unit should go into a self test and clear the fault. The test lasts for about 25 minutes. Let us know it this works, Catriver..post back.
