Re: TV picture has moved up

Your pic. has shiffted vertically. very easy to fix. open the tv set, located the crt tube(end of the screen) there are four wires going down to the board that is compined in one socet. around that socet, you will find small knobs, look for vertical phase and you could adjust that pic. the adjusting should be done while the tv is on and has pic so be careful, you are dealing with a live electricity. good luck

How do I change it from wide screen to regular? I have a black area above and below the picture.

You can set the picture size by remote control itself.

You can vide 480i format programmes in three picture sizes. 4:3, 16:9, and ZOOM
You can change the picture size by pressing the PICTURE SIZE button on the remote control.
4:3 Picutre size
To fill the screen, the top and bottom edges are extedted more widely, although the center of the picture remains near the former ratio.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image size is displayed in its originally formatted proportion.
16:9 picure size
This image displays the size of standard 16:9 with black bars at the top and bottom.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image is displayed with black bars at the top and bottom and stretched wider.

NOTE: If a fixed bar remains on the screen for a long period of time, the image can become parmanantly engrained in the screen and cause subtle but permanent ghost images. Never leave your TV for long periods of time while it is displaying these images.

Zoom picture size [for 16:9 formats]
The entire picture is uniformly enlarged --it is stretched the same amount both wider and taller (retains its original proportion). The right and left edges of the picture may be hidden.

I simply want to adjust the picture - move it up

it is bit tedious to remove the case and adjust-. if you are very much famliar with opening the case and want to try adjusting it ,only then open it or else dont open as adjusting may effect reverse too- by putting up more image in the bottom to drop and making it more worse.its advisable to get it done by manual technician if very necessary.
thanks for using fixya.keep updated.

Can't read stuff at bottom of screen

it is possible the picture format is set to stretched. look for a button on the remote that can do this. it could also be the signal. try looking at a different channel that has lettering along the top and bottom and determine if the entire picture looks like it needs to be moved up. if after all this you can still determine that the picture is misaligned post the model number and i can help you move it up.

Do you have any speaker alround? Or something with magnet material, on the top?, if yes, move out . If not.......... I recommended this, But!! be carefull!! I dont responsability for incorrect damage ok?. With a speaker or magnet , pass alround area on bad color, just pass quickly from the bottom to top.....Be carefull!!, don't do this on other area, will make big shadows and bad picture... If still there, maybe tv need work on degaussing area.

Sony Trinitron color TV model no. kv-27v22

dear, you can check that transformers out put before connecting to a tv. also when its connected to a tv.
get a avo meter and connect in series with a tv.
observe the current on the intial switch on and when the picture goes. if you notice that current on intial switching is high and then it starts going lower and lower, then change the transformer.
but if the current starts going up from the intial current then check the power supply components of the tv.
thanks for asking fixya.

The TV is only showing half of the picture

Hi Bigtate,

There is not much for me to go on with your description but here goes,

I suppose you have a convential TV set with a glass picture tube and not one of the new types with the large screen slim style displays!!!

If it a glass type picture tube then the following assumptions are made.

I hope yopu have not shifted house recently and moved the TV around???
If you have its possible the Yoke (its a device on the neck of the Picture tube that controls magnetically the scanning dot) may have moved and only is letting you see half a picture...
This is a long shot but it could be the cause..

Now the picture is supplied to you by a fast moving dot of light (Black & White set) that scans from the top of the picture and moves very fast down to the bottom of the screen, then flys back to the top of the screen and starts all over again during this process the dot lights up the picture tube to provide you with
the picture you see... (On a colour set there are three dots)

Its quite a complex process and its all controlled by electronics inside the TV receiver.

If you are getting only half a picture then something is causing the dot to only turn on for the lower half of the picture during its write time to the glass screen,

You dont say if the half thats off is white or black, so there are many things that the service technician needs to know before even starting to look for this fault. During the dot doing its write cycle down the sceen, when it reachs the bottom and flys back to the top of the screen it receives a synchronous pulse from the TV station, and this TV signal is critical in making sure you see the same picture as is being sent from the TV station.
Sometimes this sync pulse from the TV station is very weak and so your picture may float up and down the screen trying to lock to the incoming signal.. this just may be your fault.. but you dont say if the half of the picture that you see is floating or not..
Your situation may be that your TV has partially locked to the station signal and your aerial may be problematic,
but then you dont say if its on just the one channel or all of your station channels. So there needs to be more analysis of your situation prior to a positive answer being provided....

Sorry I can be of more help...

My tv rolls from bottom to the top

It's a bad cable connection. Move the cable wire and see if there is a difference. The bad connection can also be at the cable box outside.

Sony kv-32hv600 picture problems

Problem 1. Color patches at lower corners. These are caused by magnetic sources close to the TV. Do you have any Speakers close to the sides of the TV? Are they Magnetically sheilded? No? Move them away from the TV. Problem should then resolve itself in a couple of days. Problem2. Screen Slumping. Most likely a problem with the Pin cushion correction ckts. Get a good technician to have look. cost should not be much. Under 100$ plus Technician fees.
