My son's player is having the same problem. We've changed the battery, flipped the HOLD switch several times, and hooked it up to the PC (but it doesn't show up at all). Any other suggestions? The only reset function I found in the user's manual requires accessing the menus, but we can't do that. Anyother way to reset the player?

I have the same problem and nothing seems to fix it.

I am having the same problem, I have tried the hold switch, taking out the batter, attaching it to the PC (which does not acknowledge the mp3 player) and reset again and nothing. It was working fine yesterday and when I went to use it today - NOTHING. I have changed the battery and it does not matter

What about battery. Is it OK. Try to replace it.
And what about HOLD switch, try to change it.
Can you attach it through USB to PC.
Can you open it or it shows I/O error.
Good Luck

Sandisk 240m mp3 not playing

the radio and mp3 uses one audio amplifier, check if you have loaded your music with mp3 songs, if not load with mp3 songs. if songs used to play and just stopped playing, then follow these steps,

i does your display show song playing, if it does then your set is fault, and if it doent and display unsuppoted, load with mp3 songs.

ii if it was playing and just stopped, than take it to a tech, who can open it and check the change-over switch, or selector of that set.

iii the problem is to very big.

Why does my player choose to play songs in alphabetical order?

Delete the affected songs off your Sansa, Re-edit the id3 tags with the correct track information, then reload them onto the Sansa. also, make sure it is not on "Random" mode.

I had this same problem. What I ended up doing was going into My Computer into the device itself and seeing what showed up. It appears a few new songs I popped on there the day after were appearing but nothing else. I deleted all the files, unplugged it from the computer and let the library update, old songs were still playing. Plugged it back into the machine and voila they showed up.

Can't play music

Hi there. "Syncronize to continue your music subscription" is normally an indicator of the following causes, depending on the source and type of the music that you have on your M240: (1) If your music files came from a subscription music service provider (Napster,Yahoo, Rhapsody for example): This would mean that the licenses for these subscription songs need to be updated. They must be updated at least once every 30 days. You must use your subscription music service's software to resync the songs (the process varies depending on the service). Also, you would get that "sync" notice if you've cancelled your subscription. (2) If your music files were ripped from an audio CD: The best solution would be to once again "Rip" these audio CD files using Windows Media Player, version 10 or 11. Before ripping, ensure that the "Copy Protect Music" option is unchecked by going to Windows Media Player's "Tools", then "Options", then selecting the "Rip Music" tab. If all else fails, the best "last resort" would be by setting the M240 to MSC mode and formatting it in Windows Explorer or "Disk Management" I hope this proves useful. I know it's quite a bummer when you have a whole bunch of songs just sitting in your player with a "Sync" error.

No Reaction+Skipping

Hi, There's a series of things I would try to do: 1. Restart the computer. 2.Reinstall (or if not done previously - install) the driver of the m240. 3. Try changing the batteries. 4. In the setting you can change the USB definitions. 5. Try another USB port and cable. Let me know if any of them helped. If not I'll try to think of other ideas.
