Need help with playstation 3

Your HARD DRIVE (aka: Hard Disk), located on the left side of the unit, has crashed. You will need to replace the HD.

When you replace your hard drive, you will need to have the latest firmware on a

usb stick. Download the firmware from the playstation official website onto a usb

stick. Once prompted by your system you will need to insert the usb stick into the

PS3. Good luck..

You will need 2.5" Sata Hard Drive.

what color cord did u plug your ps3 into

I suggest trying to reset the system by turing the system off first. ( Do not cut the power switch off in the back of the system). Then hold the on button for 3 beeps. See what happens.

Same thing happened to my first PS3 about a week after i got it, called SONY tech support to troubleshoot but did not work, they decided to send me a warranty replacement, I havent had an issue with my new PS3. I recommend you do the same.

Hmm it could be a Hardware issue. I reccommend you phone the Sony helpline, they will help you through the process and if your lucky replace your old console. As you said the console is over one year old the warranty has mostly run out. But give it a try, they may still agree to replace your Playstation3.
