Same problem - tv pulses (blinks continuosly) when power is turned on. I have had this problem 2 x before. This time the TV shut down on me while operating. The previous 2 x it happened on a cold start. Had it "repaired" by a Hitachi authorized rep but it continues to occur. Promised myself I would not spend any more $ on this 500lb brick.....

You may need to replace your Tvs convergence board. Go to and type in your Tv model #. It is a simple swap procedure with no soldering. It costs about $80 or more. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to replace. I just replaced my convergence board on my Akai, which had the same problem and it worked.

Red power light continuously blinking. no picture no sound.

It could be the lamp went out and needs replacement. The Toshiba website states when this happens to unplug the televison for 10 minutes then plug back in. If that does not work then try another power outlet. If that does not work then call for service

No Picture - Lamp Indicator Blinking

This may be the main power supply, or the lamp supply. This is providing that the new lamp is okay.

The service tech will swap out the modules to service the set.

Sudden shutdown - Red light blinking 3 times

Replace both convergence Ic's Stk392-110 and personally I'd use STK392-150's for greater reliability. Also check all 2.2 ohm 2w resistors for open or change in value and replace as many as needed...
