Seal/Gasket kit for Powermate 4-Gallon air compressor Model #VP0000401

This thing lasted about ten hours before blowing piston seal and o-rings. Trying to find a repair kit has been a nightmare. Coleman went bankrupt and just my luck..I have one of the two compressors made in Italy for Coleman and the new owners of Coleman/Powermate will not stock any parts for my model. Any idea where to find a seal repair kit? It would be so easy to fix if I could find a kit. I can make the gaskets but the piston seal is out of my expertise. Please let me know if you can help. Neither Sanborn or Coleman were of any help. Thank you.

Just some information that may lead you to parts, The compressor sold thru Lowes (Kobalt) must be the same mfg. because the parts look like they would interchange. A trip to Lowes may verify. Maybe they have a compressor with bad motor for your parts. Good Luck

Air is leaking from regulator knob on my d55146 compressor. will a regulator rebuild kit fix it or do i need a hole new regulator?

Yes. A rebuild kit will include all seals and o-rings needed.
This project is best handled at a service center...Reason being that the rebuild requires making sure that all seal surfaces are a clean machine surface to properly reseat and seal..

Why can`t my compressor pump over ten pounds ?

You didn't state what model compressor you have so in gerneral: if you have no leaks, remove the air pump head to check the reed valves on the valve plate and the condition of the piston, piston ring(s) and cylinder. If the reed valves are broken or warped from heat they won't seal properly. If the piston ring(s) are broken or the cylinder is badly scored air will leak past the piston instead of compressing and going into the tank.

Coleman Powermate VP201 will not go above 40 lbs.

Hi mjschulte815

Here are a few things to check, you may have already checked some of these.

Electricity...Compressors will run best with full 115Vot 15AMP/Or 220V electrical supply from a circuit, over the shortest electrical cord as possible.

Air Leaks..Place your ear close to the compressor and listen for air leaking, if you hear air that is not normal and means you have to locate and repair whatever it is that is leaking.
Check the air unloader valve... The air unloader valve will blown out air when you turned off the compressor, that is normal.
But it should not have air leaking out of it all of the time. If so then it is faulty and in need of repair/replacement.

Valves...If either the intake or exaust valves fail, breaks, or fails to seat, then your compressor will run 24 hours a day and never build up to the correct pressure for shut-off.

Gaskets...Check to see if your gaskets have failed.
You could have a gasket failure between the pistons and you will never know it because it shows no external air leak.
If this situation happens then the air will only cycle between cylinders and never build up the correct air pressure.
One way to check the gasket is remove the air filter, then put your hand over the intake.
Please take time to rate me
If correct then it will **** you hand against the intake.
If the valve or valves have failed then you will feel the air sucking in and blowing out.

Piston Rings and Cylinder...The piston rings could be stuck, broken, or worn and not allowing the correct pressure to build up in your tank.
A worn cylinder will also contribute to the problem of pressure build-up.

Pressure Switch...Check for air leaks at the pressure switch, it has a rubber diaphram that can fail and leak air out of the system.

Air is not building up pressure

There may be few causes for this.
1. The piston rings are worn out. If lot of oil comes in your receiver tank ththis is the indication to tell you that the piston rings and oil scraper needs to be changed.
2. The leaf springs strip is broken or worn out. If air is coming out of the suction filter open the compressor head with proper marking check and then fix back the same way you opened it.
3. One of the gasket is damaged or broken. Once again you will find air blowing out from the suction filter.

Model wl660800aj wont build any pressure hardly 10min 10psi took unit apart check valve appears to work ok valve sheets not broken but cylinder has light scouring and slight play no kind of seal apparent...

The piston should be tight in the cylinder and there should be no play between them. There should also be a ring at the top of the piston to seal it in the cylinder. You need a piston/cylinder assembly, part number WL211000SJ to fix your problem. They are a common failure item on oilless compressors and you can only buy them as an assembly, the parts are not available seperately. The part is available on but shop around the web, compressor parts aren't cheap and prices and shipping varies.

Compressor pressure only to 60 lb psi and no more

not sure but it sounds like the piston ring is worn out or you might have a bad valve.
p.s. its not your typical valve like in a car.

is it a wet compressor, check the oil.

Comperssor runs and there is pressure from the tank gauges won't put out more than 20-30 lbs.

indicates the pump has lost its capacity, assuming the line from the pump to the tank is not leaking,,, a few things could have happened, most likely a valve in the head plate has broken, or head gasket has blown. Third would be he compression ring on the piston has worn out and needs to be replaced. advise you get a parts breakdown on the pump and have at it ad start looking for something broken in the head first.
