Have you tried pressing F2 while starting the computer to see if it will allow you back into BIOS to change that setting back?

  • James Swafford May 11, 2010

Have you tried just leaving the password blank? If you told it to require a password, but did not set one up, I would assume that it will be blank. Is this in your BIOS? (is it on a black screen with white letters while the computer is first starting up that it is asking?) Or what screen is it asking on?

I would guess that it is a default password. Do you remember what brand of BIOS it was?
Try the passwords on these sites. Good Luck.

Also if that doesn't work, I know Acer charges $100 to reset your password, but if you feel up to it (or know someone that does) you should be able to reset the password by removing the BIOS battery. This will require tearing the entire laptop apart. Good Luck to you!

The Dell Latitude E6400 laptop comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor for fast computing and an NVIDIA graphics card for video playback, gaming and Web browsing. The laptop has a built in Wi-Fi card, letting you connect to the Internet on-the-go. However, if you're unfamiliar with Dell or the laptop's factory installed Windows Vista operating system, you might not know how to enable to Wi-Fi.

Slide the switch on the side of the laptop toward the front of the laptop. This switch enables Wi-Fi connectivity on the Dell Latitude E6400. When switched into the back position, the Wi-Fi is turned off. Turn on your Dell Latitude E6400 laptop and log into Windows Vista. Click on the Windows "Start" button. Click on "Wireless," located in the Start menu's "Show" list. A list of currently broadcasting wireless networks appears on screen. With your Wi-Fi enabled, you can connect to any of these available networks. Secured networks ask you for a password when you click "Connect," while unsecured networks connect automatically.

Unlock hdd/ssd password on toshiba satellite

Step 1Turn on your laptop. Press the "F2" key when the first loading screen appears. This will load the BIOS. You'll only have a second or two to press this key before Windows begins to boot. If you're not fast enough and the Windows screen comes up, simply restart and try again.
Step 2Use the right-arrow key to highlight the "Security" tab. This is the third tab from the right.
Step 3Press the down-arrow to enter the Security Settings menu. Scroll down to "User Password," listed beneath the "HDD/SSD Password Select." This will open a pop-up window with three text fields.
Step 4Type your current password into the "Current Password" field. Press "Enter." Type your new password into the "New Password" field and press "Enter." Type the same password again into the "Confirm New Password" field and press "Enter." The "Password" window will close.
Step 5Press the "F10" key to save your new settings and exit the BIOS. Your laptop will now boot normally.
TipHDD password can be changed as many times as necessary. However, once you enable password protection, you can never delete it.

The BIOS and Supervisor passwords cannot be removed or changed unless you know the existing password(s). If you forget your BIOS or Supervisor password, you will have to have the password removed by a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider

My laptop turned off and now its asking for a primary user hdd password witch i dont have how do i unlock it?

You have to unlock the hard drive from within BIOS if you don't want to see that screen again. However, if you don't know that password then the laptop is not going to usable by you. Normally this prevents access to a computer in case someone steals it, since the thief won't know the hdd password and can't unlock it to access any data.

Wen i turn it on it is asking for password and i dont know it what do i do

Does it ask for a password Immediately when you turn it on? (CMOS password) or does windows boot up and then ask for both a username and password?

If the first, and you don't know what your password is, you can try clearing the CMOS by pulling the battery from the motherboard.

If it's a windows password, you or someone else created a password for it. Try just clicking OK, or enter Administrator as the username and leave password blank. Otherwise you may have to reset using ultimate boot CD.

Re: TOSHIBA company have a problem with Toshiba Satellite laptop model A135-S2246, is enabled in the BIOS password, can you help me to delete from the computer. You can contact me at add....

If you don't know the password to the BIOS - you're screwed. There's absolutely no way to recover it back. You may take it to a computer repair shop or Toshiba Repair place and let them reset the BIOS Password.

I am trying to connect my laptop wirelessly but do not know the password how can i find out what it is?

For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
For belkin router http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Clickon wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It isyour password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
You can not know the current password if you foget it because it is in * or # format so you need to add new 1 with above method.

Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa
