Printer will not print. I recently relocATED my computer, and now it doesn't print. I reinstalled the cd.. and I see my printer in the control panel, and it prints a test page.... but it wont print a check from quickbooks

Try uninstalling and reinstalling or doing a repair. Make sure you have your install cd handy. You can uninstall or repair by going to control panel > hardware and sound > devices and printers. Then right click on the printer and either troubleshoot or remove the printer all together.

You need to plug in the original USB cord that came with the printer. Once that is done, try again, the computer should re-dectect the printer. If it doesn't, then a security setting on your wireless has recently changed. If so, then you need to re-run the setup that came with your printer.

I am assuming you have it connected via USB to your computer. If you have an additional USB port on your computer then try powering off the printer, attach the USB connection to a new USB port, go to the Control Panel (Start, Settings Control Panel), go to Administrative Tools, go to Services, scroll down to Printer Spool, stop the service, start the service, and power on printer. Try to print a test page. If it fails, power off the printer and delete the print driver. Reinstall the driver using the CD.

Look around thoroughly in the Printers > Properties tabs. While in the shop, they have no doubt tested your computer (without your printer hooked up). Try letting your computer boot up without the printer, then with printer power on, plug in the USB cable.

Perhaps your printer is "offline." If so, right click on your printer's name in control panel. Choose "Use printer online".

it mean it is not being seen by the computer, try and reinstall it using the drver cd, if this did not work yet check the cable. good luck

Vista is tricky like that. do you have the cd that came with printer try to reinstall it. maybe go to HP site update the drivers.

Pushing the continue button and getting a test page just lets you know the printer is functional. This is a test without having the computer involved. If you can print a test page from the print driver, this lets you know that there is communication between the computer and the printer.

Uninstall your current drivers for the 1700, there are 2 places to look for the drivers, one would be in your all programs list, Dell Printer, uninstall, the other would be in control panel, programs and features, look for the dell printer software there. Once you have this uninstalled, go to device manager while the printer is still attached to your computer. In device manger look for the icon that represents the printer, right click it and then click uninstall. Now detach your printer, close device manager, restart your computer. Next you will boot back to the desktop, attach your printer, if windows recognizes and tries to install the printer, stop/cancel it. Install the printer drivers from the file you downloaded from the Dell support site. Now try printing from your application.

you need to reinstall the driver to get this printer up and running again, try to find the cd from your printer and reinstall, or donload the recent driver on the web, make sure you select the right OS platform, it is usually easy to follow step by step procedure.


it is not automatic though when you make system recovery, it only repairs your pc not the external peripheral
