You can use the composite video and analog audio from the satelite and go into the DVD recorder. Those are the yellow, red, and white RCA cables. Go from the output of the satelite to the input of the DVD recorder and you should be all set.

Did you switch the input of the DVD recorder to the composite input?
You need to select what you are going to record from on the DVD recorder in the setup menu.

with the s-video you still need to use the analog audio, the red and white RCA cables. s-video has no audio on it.

once you set the audio program for an input, it should stay set even if you power the unit down. As far as locking that program so that it cannot be changed - no there isn't a way to do that.

How did you 'connect' the cordless microphone to the RX-V663? You will need to select this same input in order to get output in the speakers.

WHERE IS THE AUDIO OUTPUT WHEN USING COMPONENT CABLES ON A YAMAHA RX-V571 RECEIVER

How are you hooking up the receiver to the dvd recorder? Component connections are only going to carry video. For audio, you would have to connect the cd-r output rca jacks to the recorder audio inputs.

Subwoofer

Without being able to access the receiver in person, the best advice I can give you is to sit down with your user manual and follow the instructions. You'll find, starting on page 85, the necessary settings for hooking up a subwoofer to the receiver. If you don't have the manual, you can obtain a pdf file at Yamaha.com: http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Documents/YEC/AV_Receivers/Manual/RX-V663_U-1.pdf

RX-V663 won't change input automatically

Be sure to have HDMI Controll function turned on in the Setup Menu. But also the DVR and BD player should support this.
For example I have both Toshiba DVD player and Popcron Hour player connected via HDMI to my receiver which is then connected via HDMI to TV. When I turn on DVD, it changes the input on receiver and also on TV. But the Popcorn doesn't support it won't change anything.

Yamaha receiver RX-V663

Make sure you have an analog RCA audio cable from the source to the receiver. Digital coaxial or optical will not work for zone 2 or zone 3. By adding an analog cable it will not affect your main zone, it will always go to digital first. Hope this helps

Remote to control comcast, DVD and TV

The answer here is very simple, there are plenty universal remotes that can control any device and upto 10 devices. You can even record macro's with these, this means by simply pressing 1 button all your devices will switch on, select correct channels and volume and start playign or recording.

Just check Logitech website for Harmony or Philips for Pronto.

Yamaha RX-V663 - HDMI doesn't work.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a workaround:
  • as you posted, audio out of the DVD goes to the receiver;
  • HDMI out of the DVD goes to the Schaub Lorenz LCD.
Even if it were a compatibility issue or HDMI processor issue on the receiver, the above should get you going.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
