Question about Pioneer Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

CD Payer PD-M426. When cartridge is inserted, Player starts at disc 1 then immediately to disc 2 right to disc 6, then zero, without playing any of them. All the other functions seem OK so it seems the laser is just not reading the discs. Troubleshooting , in the Operating Instructions does not offer any solution to this particular problem. I think the tranformer for the laser must have died. Where can I get it replaced (in Canberra) ?

  • flopoc Dec 11, 2008

My difficulty in accessing your service is that I live in Canberra, Australia.

Is there any chance of you making an exception for an Aussie pensioner who has difficulty with the process of transmitting the correct US dollars ?

No noise other than the clicking of each disc into position.

Hi Peter,
First thing to ask you to check is that the discs have been inserted into the cartridge the correct way... that is writing facing down. Check that first and let me know how you get on. Happy to work through it with you.

In follow up with you Peter, did you check for the CD's correct way down in the cartridge. If this is all good, what noises do you hear (if a ny) when the player tries to read a disc? I am a Certified Pioneer Technician and can help you with your problem. In the free section here, I only do that for FixYas. Any chance of an upgrade? Cheers.

I am in Brisbane, Queensland. Happy to help you out. I got to look out for me Aussie ol mates now don't I :) If you want we can talk over a few things that may be wrong with it. You can assist me in checking a few things, and we can tell if the player is worth spending the money on. They are pretty reliable machines, and the problems they get are known well to a Pioneer guy like myself. I have repaired hundreds of this type of player.

Hi,
It sounds like you haven't followed the last step to the burning procedure. All you need to do once you've completed burning your disc is to Finalize the disc. Read below why you need to finalize as well as the steps to follow in order to finalize the disc.
Hope this helps ;)
How to Finalize Finalizing is writing the TOC (table of contents) on a disc so a CD player can recognize the number of tracks, the total time for each track, and their location on the disc. A recorded disc must be finalized to playback on a standard CD player. Once finalized a CD-R disc can be played on CD players that support CD-R playback. CD-RW discs can only be played on CD players that support CD-RW playback. Consult your CD player owner's manual to confirm supported formats. Finalizing is necessary to: • be able to play a recorded CD-R or CD-RW disc on a CD player • prevent further recording on a disc • avoid erasing tracks on a CD-RW disc • record text information onto a disc you record Notes: • A finalized CD-R disc can never be recorded onto again. • A finalized CD-RW disc can be unfinalized for more recording. • The CDR300 can play back unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW discs. • SYNC REC+FINAL mode automatically finalizes.
Here are the steps in order to Finalize your disk
1 Push Stop. The display shows the number of tracks and their total playing time. 2 Push FINALIZE. FINALIZE is displayed for about 3 seconds.

Keeps on pausing when playing cds tried using cd cleaner cd

It does not necessarily mean that the lens of the player might be dirty when you experience this kind of problems. It may be as a result of a weak lens or damaged disc.
You can try getting a disc with a clean face and try to see if it does the same thing. Also, make sure that you use a soft piece of cloth to clean the face of the disc before playing. Try to do this as gently as possible as it would help to remove some amount of hitches.
Also, the lens of the player might be weak and require replacement. In this case, no matter how you use the cd cleaner, it is not going to help unless you replace the lens.
Lastly, the recording of the disc might be bad and may require you to purchase another one. Sometimes, some discs have bad recordings and cannot play without hitches. This is a fault that comes from the production and not from your disc or player.
The best way to avoid these hitches are by doing the following.
1. Keep your discs in a clean and dust free environment.
2. Make sure you always keep the player closed so as to protect the lens from dust.
3. Ensure that you play disc with clean surface as scratched surface could result in a damaged lens.

I have a Pioneer PD-M501 6 disc player and when i load a disc into one of the trays in the magizine it doesnt read it and it keeps changing disc trays, it skips it and said no disc, whats up?

Make sure you place the disk correctly in the caddy, (Upside down in the caddy). It seems backwards, but I had it do that, and I flipped the cd over, and it worked.
