Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

1 Answer

Can't get my laptop to display on a monitor.

I hooked my girlfriend's computer up to my monitor and it worked fine, but when i hook my Toshiba Satellite A105 up to it nothing. About a year ago I spilled some ramen noodles on my laptop and i turned it over to make sure it was dry before i started to use it again, the spill was right over the monitor port. Don't know if that would have killed the port or what.

Most laptops require you to press the Fn (Function) key and another key on the keyboard to activate the external video port, not too sure which button on your model it is, but it should look like a monitor.

Other than that it could be your board is fried. Which will need replacement/ repair.

The monitor does not work on Satellite L305-S5921, I can hook up an external monitor and that works.

The display needs to be replaced or the display plug is unplugged at the motherboard has a short in it.The video card sounds to be working fine.I would guess the display needs to be replaced.

Trying to hook-up a PS3 to my Toshiba 32AV500U thru HDMI but I get no picture. I forget how to get to the setup.

The Toshiba 32AV500U cannot display 1080p. Hook up your PS3 to your computer monitor, provided that it can display 1080p, or some other TV that can, then change your Video Output settings under Settings> Display Settings and uncheck 1080p, which will allow the PS3 to display in 1080i. Once you do that, then hook up the Toshiba via HDMI and it will work with no problem.

I want to use a NEC Multisync 1700V monitor as an external display for my Thinkpad T400. However I get no image when I hook up the laptop and change the display scheme to display on my laptop screen +...

The only I can think of is the resolution setting that your T400 is putting out that your NEC does not like andcannot display, look at the T42 resolution when the NEC is hooked up to it and try to set it to be the same in the T400.

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

Help with laptop

Hello Milligan,
Your problem is the inverter board in the display. Thats the reason why its working with an external display. The external display input is from the video card not from your display. You can get an inverter board for around 30-50$. Be advised that if you are not experienced in electronics better leave this job for a tech.

Regards,
Rajesh.
