Hi there, That problem is caused by the laser assembly on the hitachi dvd rom drive. any movement of the console will wreck havoc on your disks, if the scratches are not to extremely embedded in the lacquer you may be able to buff them out. as far as the laser assembly it might be covered by the warranty if so then i would get it replaced if it becomes an issue. But remember that the console can destroy your games/movies if any movement is present when the console fires up the dvd rom drive. I hope this helps and if you have anymore questions please let me know.

There is really big chance for an Xbox 360 to completely ruin a game disc if it was moved while the disc is spinning inside, even the slightest bump or vibration could higly cause for a disc to be scratched. This also happens with other optical drives which has spinning motion, say DVD/CD players and other game consoles.

When you accidently moved your Xbox while the game was running, it probably put a scratch on your FIFA 09 disc.

You can try to fix it by using a cd /dvd scratch repair kit. You can find them at just about any store that sells cd or dvds.

I had a disc that wouldn't play and used one of the repair kits on it because I had nothing to lose. As I was applying the solution to the disc, I thought.... this is a complete waste of time.

When I wiped the solution off and put the disc in my Xbox, I had no expectations that the game would work. Well... I was wrong, the disc actually worked.

There's no guarantee the repair kit will work in your particular case but, you're in the same boat I was in... You've got nothing to lose by trying.

The only other option is to buy a new disc.

My xbox always says open tray and close tray, it wont play my games, no red ring

The disc tray is messing up. The same thing is happening with my 360. Here are two different suggestions:

  • Put the disc in the 360, and then turn the console off. Turn it back on, and it might start playing the game for you. This has worked for me a few times.

  • Call Microsoft's Support line (I think it's 1-800-MY-XBOX in the US), and tell them about it. If your console is within warranty, they should repair it for you, free of charge.

Xbox 360 won't load disc

It may be the disc..I used to have this same problem but it was because of the disc....sometimes it is the scanner inside the xbox but since all other games work it may be just your game disc

"Unplayable Disc"

First of all clean the disc, use warm water and a soft rag. after cleaning the disk, very carefully take apart your XBOX and use the rag to wipe off the eye touch nothing else. Place the XBOX together the same way that you took it apart. Hope this helps!
