Question about Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2.0

1 Answer

I seemed to have developed a hotkey of sorts. When I hit a period while typing it goes to the upper left corner of whatever program I'm using and the dialog box opens. If I'm typing fast I can suddenly find myself with a closed screen wondering what the heck happened. Reinstalled 5 times, reset everything to default and nothing is working. Driving me crazy!

    Desktop w/XP Pro 2002 with SP2
Keyboard is Microsoft wireless laser 6000 vs 2 (Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard Intellitype Pro) with driver 6.0.236.0
Mistake on posting category, Delete keyboard and the mouse goes too.
I had recently set the 5 favorite keys to folder shortcuts, but have long since changed batteries, uninstall/reinstall, update drivers, and set everything to default. So it may be related.
No problems with any keys sticking.

Need more specifics. Is this a laptop? - make, model. If desktop, type of keyboard, OS? Why is this posted under Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2.0? Sounds like a key may be sticking.

Normal 0 Are you using Windows Vista? If you are then go to Control Panel.
1. Click on PRINTERS.
2. When the Printer Properties come up, CLICK on KEY SETTINGS.
3. Then set up the keys by selecting the key to be setup.
In your case look in the different Key setting drop downs and find which on has the period set and change it or DISABLE it.

Hope this helps. Bud

There is a long silver button with a black moon on the upper left of my keyboard. When I accidentally hit it, the screen goes black. What is it.....and how do you get your screen back?

Hi,
Depending on how your keyboard is configured, that key is set to do one of two things:
  1. Puts your computer to sleep. (A low power state where almost everything is shut off, including the monitor). You can resume from sleep by hitting any key on the keyboard, hitting the power button on your computer, or clicking the mouse.
  2. Puts your computer into hibernation. (An even lower power state where everything is actually shut off, but a copy of everything open is saved to the hard drive to be opened during start up. It basically allows you to turn off the computer, but be able to turn it back on with program exactly how you left it). You can resume from hibernation only by hitting the power button on your computer.
Hope this helps. If it does, please accept and rate the solution! You can leave a testimonial or contact me with any more questions you may have. Thanks for using FixYa!

How do I program the home key in upper right corner of keyboard?

You don't program it, it is a standard key on a keyboard. If you are scrolling or something and want to return to the top you just hit the home key.

The arrows arent working, scroll lock must be on and I cant figure out how to undo. there is no scroll lock button

GOOD NEWS!
There is a scroll lock button on your computer and this is how you get to it.
Step 1
Click the Windows Start button which is located in the lower left corner of your screen.
Step 2
Click on All Programs. You will see a list of all the programs installed on your computer.
Step 3
Select Accessories from the list of available Programs. It is usually in the upper left on the list of available programs as the list is alphabetized.
Step 4
Select Accessibility, which is a sub-program of Accessories.
Step 5
Select the On-Screen Keyboard.
Step 6
Select the Scroll-Lock by clicking on the on-screen 'key' labelled 'slk' located upper right on the on-screen keyboard between the 'psc' and the 'brk' keys.

This should get that pesky scroll lock off right away!
Sincerely, CBR2009

Keyboard changing key configuration

the key combination you mention is Left Alt + Left Shift.
It changes the keyboard layout to the next one in the listed of available keyboard layouts.
To configure the layouts, go to Control Panel -> Regional and language settings -> Languages tab -> Details
Under Installed services, the keyboard layouts that are currently installed are listed.
If you don't need to change (is needed if you want to type norwegian for example, since it has some special characters), you can simply remove all unnecessary layouts.
