Question about Microsoft Office 2003 Basic Edition English (s55-00066) for PC

Problems with Solution Center and also PowerPont

I originally installed Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 when I bought my current Dell Inspiron notebook about a year ago.

Everything semed to be fine until last month, when a Solution Center messsage started appearing on PC startup, requesting that I install the Solution Center CD. (I don't even know what that is!) This message pops up repeatedly throughout the day and I am constantly pushing "Cancel," but to no avail.

A [possibly] related problem occurred today. I attempted to create a PowerPoint presentation but the only program available is PowerPoint Viewer! I was able to create PowerPoint presentations in the past. So PowerPoint seems to have disappeared. I tried to run the Office 2003 CD today, thinking I could reload the program, but when I do so, a Solution Center message tells me to install the CD -- but it again gives me the message that this is the 'wrong program' or file.

What does it all mean?

..And of course, what can I do to remedy these issues?

Thanks. I'll try that later today.

I would uninstall the programs in question that you are having an issue with. Then reinstall them fresh from the disc. If you still have issues after that please let me know and I will assist you further. Also please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thank you,
Lee

Try installing all the service packs for your version of windows and Office 2003. You might have to uninstall/reinstall office.

Office 2003 Programs Freeze

Is your office 2003 licensed?? If not you got nailed by microsoft and deactivated no doubt. If it is licensed, try reloading it. If that doesnt work repost the question and i will look further for you. You must delete the office 2003 completely and reinstall and if it is licensed, you can have microsoft update it. This is important.

How do I go about buying a Product Key for Microsoft office home and Student 2007? I bought a new laptop and they never gave me a product code

If you have a trial version of MS Office Home and Student Edition already installed in your computer, you must buy a retail package of that same programe (MS Office Home and Student Edition) and language of the trial installed.
Then you can use the product key of the package you bought to convert your trial into a full version.
To convert MS Office Home and Studente Edition, you don't just buy a key, you must buy the full package with the CD you can use for future installations.

Opening pps messages

Hi nati662992,

pps files are Microsoft PowerPoint slideshows.

Because Powerpoint is part of the Microsoft Office package, you would think that you would have to purchase Microsoft Office to view .pps files. This is not so. You can download the free PowerPoint viewer from here:

http://www.download.com/PowerPoint-Viewer-2007/3000-18483_4-10742145.html

Install that and reboot.
Then open the email again and it will automatically open with Powerpoint Viewer. Or it will ask you what program you want to open it with, and you click the PowerPoint Viewer .exe icon, and tick the 'Always open with this Program?' box.

Good Luck and Season's Greetings to you!

I misplaced the Office 2003 CD. If I borrow someone else's can I use my product installation product key on a different CD?

The information on the CDs is effectively the same, as long as the CDs are of the same version (Office 2003 has at several sub-versions, like Student and Teacher, Small Business, and so on). If you still have your valid MS cd-key, you can install from a different disk.
