Question about Rival 38601 Smart Pot 6-Quart

Lid issues Handle broke off the lid after first use. After repeatedly calling, their customer service still states they have no lids and do not know when they will get them. Basic run around game as noticed throughout this site. They refused to let me talk to management and ended my call each time as I asked for them. I let them know I will call daily and at the least they will spend $100s on Customer Service calls over what amounts to peanuts just replacing my lid or unit as a whole. I will never purchase a product from them again which compounds their loss over their defective lid.

    I called today and got the same answer, my husband tried purchasing a new screw but it only stripped the handle... no help here:(

    I too have the same problem... checked all other website... and found that everyone is out of stock of replacement parts. My slow cooker is not old and only used occasionaly. I'm very disappointed to see that 1. There isnt a recall because many people are having the same issue. 2. Can't even remedy the situation by buying another part even if I wanted.

    Poor Customer Service on Rival parts! Careful when ever buying Rival items!

    I am not sure if I have the same Model# SCVP6009-A1 as you do, However I purchased this for my Wife last Christmas (2007), and after about 6 mos. the lid handle screw pulled out of the formed plastic lid, and now after about a year of owning it the Two Side handles are turning Brittle and starting to break. This is what happens when these company's farm out the little parts to foriegn country's and sell in the USA for top dollar. You see they have no ability or need to contact those foriegn manufacturers of goods to even try to get replacement plastic handles because it was a limited partnership and they probably still owe that buisness the remainder of the payment for the goods (already sold) recieved. Therefore C.S. cannot satisfy the public demand for the defective materials and the Company CEO has already over-spent funding, which makes a re-call way to costly by possibly putting he/she in the line at the local branch of employment services.

    I hope this helps you to decide to research before you by "MADE IN" ???

    Same story. My hubby was able to take a handle off another defunct crockpot (I broke the liner and have been unable to find a replacement) and put on the broken lid. No wonder our landfills are maxxing out!!

    I had hardly used this crockpot and was lucky when I was cooking with it, was able to catch the lid when the handle just fell apart when lifting up to check the food....I do not know where to turn to to try and get another handle?

    The nut is press fit into the plastic handle. The plastic around the nut broke away from the handle. I don't need a replacement lid, just the handle. Will head off to the hardware store to see if I can find some parts to fix it. I intend to use the screw that came with the lid.

    I have model #SCVC550 and the hinge pin fell out into the food. The store would not take it back with out a receipt and have yet to hear from Rival. I also will not buy another product from them.

I have a rival slow cooker ,, model scvc550,,,,,, and the hinge and hinge screw is bad , fell apart the first week ,,, need to get it replaced by rival... i will never buy a rival product,,,, again , very poor service,, can any one help 612- 741-2019

the only other thing is if the hardware stores don't have thepart if your still under warranty you can call the manufacturer and they will replace the lid foryou.... the handle is hard to find. i use to work for the company they are hard to find. especially for a 38601. if you have any problems finding it please let me know and i;ll see what i can.

easy fix go down to your hardware store and buy a big wooden knob (like you would put on a cabnet to open it) it will even come with its own screw for .99 ! . you will have to snap off with a plyers and a screwdriver whats left of the old knob from the lid . but this fix works great and looks good too !

For what it's worth, when the handle on my mother-in-law's crockpot broke, I went to Home Depot and bought a cheap wooden drawer knob (about $1 as I recall). I put a plastic washer between the knob and the glass and another under the screw head from the bottom (to prevent cracking the lid), tightened the screw and good as new.

I am Jo Anne Gomez who posted original problem and thought the problem was resolved with husband putting on a knob he found at the hardware store. Just wanted to let you all know that the handle we thought would solve the problem DID NOT....after he replaced the knob and we did another roast in it the lid totally shattered after we'd cooked another roast (luckily the glass did not get into the food), however, this is just a BAD PROBLEM and these lids should ALL be recalled. I have seen, just recently, the exact same crock pot and lid being sold for much less. I think that these crock pots should not even be sold but taken off the market to prevent lawsuits or horrible problems. Just wanted to let you know our solution did not work and Rival was not helpful at all.
