Where is the thermal fuse on a series 80 kenmore electric dryer. will this act as though the power is off? How can i test the fuse?

Yes, but there are several thermal limiters, they should reset when the unit cools, so likely that is not what is happening.... Forcefully turn the breaker FULLY off, and then back on, and test again...

The thermal limiters are located along the air flow path, typically downstream of your burner, the purpose is to prevent overheating and fire. These limiters stop the HEATING element and not the drum motor...

Locating heating element kenmore 80 series and a safety switch

If you are looking to purchase replacement parts, you can purchase on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Use your model number for your search criteria. Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view diagrams to assist in parts location/identification.

If you are trying to determine WHERE these parts are located on your dryer, please post back with a complete model number (located on a nameplate around the door opening) so I can determine how your dryer is configured.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

It sounds like your heating element has broken. There are several links provided on this site on how to replace it. You might want to take a look at davesrepair.com to purchase a new one. He has pretty good prices on the element.

Kenmore dryer doesnt heat

Nothing you did wrong! Probably needs a new heating element. Prices vary by model. Call Sears/Kenmore parts center nearest you. Tell 'em you need a heat element for your dryer. Be sure to provide your dryer's model number.

Unplug your appliance first before attempting repairs! Safety first and always!
