Connecting the remote to PS3

1Insert the two AA batteries into back of the DVD/BD remote.

2Power on your PlayStation 3 system manually. You can accomplish this by pressing the "PS" button in the middle of your wireless controller, or on the front of your PlayStation 3.

3Navigate to "Settings" on the PS3 home menu, referred to as the XMB.

4Scroll down the list of settings and select "Accessory Settings" by pressing "X" on your PS3 wireless controller.

5Select "Register BD Remote Control" by pressing the "X" on your PS3 controller.

6Follow the on-screen instructions that appear for registering your BD/DVD remote control. Once the remote is paired, you can control various multimedia applications on your system.

If your PS3 is connected online it should have the newest update already. In the event it's not. You want to go to sony playstation support.com insert a USB thumbdrive into your computer. Download the newest update, insert thumbdrive into the USB of the PS3 under system settings select install update. It will take a few minutes then your PS3 is up to date.

On your ps3 system access the settings tab. Then select accessory settings, and select register BD remote. Then follow the on screen instructions.

Please check the region code on the BD or DVD. It should match the region code set in the system. Otherwise the disc will not play

Once in awhile, the keys just expire. To renew it, go to SYSTEM UPDATE in your PS3s xmb.. 2nd tab over top option..click it and it will ask you to select a method. Update via internet. Go through this you should be good to go.they usually expire after 12-18 mos. Heres a link to the manual..

your PS3 software needs to be updated in order to play blu-ray.

On that page click on the link that says "update the system software".

On the next page it will explain to you the different ways to upgrade the software on your ps3.

I would start with a firmware update (2.60) and also a full system restore. That should fix the problem. Let me know. I'm a PS3 expert!

I just bought the remote - go to settings, accessory settings, and the register bd remote..it will tell you to press the start button and the enter button at the same time until it registers. hope this helps.
