You need to remove the tuner from the main circuit board, resolder the cable connector to the metal tuner case, and resolder the connection inside the tuner from the connector center tab to the tuner circuit board.

Removing the tuner requires "solder wick," a copper braid that soaks up the solder as it melts so it can be freed from the board.

Resoldering the connector to the tuner case requires high heat from a soldering gun to get it hot enough fast enough to make the connection. A regular soldering iron won't do the trick.

If the connector has been broken off completely, replacements are available from a couple of on-line vendors (I use a company call MCM Electronics www.mcminone.com.)

If you are not comfortable with electronic soldering and working on TV's, you might want to get an estimate from a shop for this repair. It should be under $100, depending on the shop's rate.

"Rolled TV, now off...."
Hello T
Depending on how much vibration the room-to-room transport created, something such as a connector, fuse, plug-in board could have fallen out.
As you mention no green light now coming on, I suspect either a loose fuse / broken fuse wire or power connector.
TV's can hold dangerous voltages even when unplugged.
Ask your friendly TV-technician to have a look.
Hope this helps,
Clive.

The bottom third of the tv is darker than the rest. It is like a light bar burned out. The tv is 3 years old and has had this problem for 6 months now. Can this be fixed?

Hello There,

It looks more like one of the LCD matrix controller connectors got loose or the chip went out for good. I'd open the case to verify for back light on the bottom portion behind the screen; If you see back light, then check for a loose connector in that area, if no loose connectors are apparent, then the matrix controller is bad. You are in for a new TV set.

The tv keeps shutting off. Tried resetting and unplugging but it does nothing.

Hello Sir, Hi, The reason why the TV is shutting off, is due to overload. A part or a board inside the TV becomes shorted or maybe foreign objects inside is causing the problem. This may also be caused by a faulty power supply board or loose screws that holds a circuit board. SO have this checked by a technician. If the Power supply board is the reason(usually). A replacement board is necessary. This is no DIY job.

Where is the main connector for the LCD panel

Most T-CON board is at the middle top center of the screen undet a metal shileld with very small wires and connectors attached to it. Most T-CON failed after warm up due to the heat from the panel and from the power supply, since heat rises, it gets a lot of exposure to the heat.

The HDMI connector broke loose from its mounting inside the tv.

It is possible for the HDMI connector to be re-soldered back on. However as the pin connections are small & delicate it is possible that some of the pads on the board may have been damaged, if this is the case then a new board would be required.
