Question about Hitachi 60V500 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Red haze when the screen is dark there is a red haze in the center of my 60v500. the tv is 4 yrs old. it is perfect other wise.. Same problem here. My model Hitachi60v500A Purchased Jan 15 2005 TV is 4 years old. Had the lamp replaced 6 weeks ago and shortly thereafter noticed a reddish haze generating from the center of the screen to cover about 60% of the screen. It is not noticeable when there is a daylight shot but as the picture environment gets "darker" the pink hue becomes more apparent. When the set is powered off, the glow is there in "high" lamp mode but when it goes to cool down the pink is gone. I have a technician coming over in a few days to have a peek at it.

Your red color gun is starting to go out, either the gun itself or the control board. I would recommened having the technician take another look at it.

The most common cause for this is a defective color wheel.

The most common cause for this is a defective color wheel, to find out the color wheel must be inspected by a technician.

    Additional causes can be:

    Defective light engine.

    Polarization on the display surface.

If the model is a rear projection LCD d, defective LCD panel.

The first thing to inspect is the color wheel. If replacing does not work, the light engine should be tested, probably the light engine is slightly defective and it is the cause for this problem.

Light engine is a very expensive replacement. If the TV is less than one year old, then it is covered with factory warranty, in this case call the number listed on the owner manual to register the product and validate warranty, the repair will be free of charge.

I would suggest replacing the board itself, chances are what caused those fuses to blow is still faulty. did you check those fuses again after you powered it back up?

I have a HITACHI 60in. LCD rear projection tv (model 60v500). I'm getting 2 large oblong red areas in the center of the picture. Is this an adjustment?

Hi,it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. This is how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo So basically the 3 Lcd chips that create the colors and image is going bad and thats why you get that color discoloration.Contact Hitachi or look for your light engine online.God bless you and your house!

Blue haze spot-yellow tint

I have the same problem with blue haze that just spread out on model 55VS69A ,
tv is almost 2 years old. i called hitachi and they advised to call a local repair center to check the tv...they confirmed Optical Block (light engine ) replacement light engine cost $1400 and labour $400, so i called back hitachi and they said they will provide light engine and will have to pay labour!....this is not right paying out of pocket for a tv less than 2 years old....I am not sure if the issue will resurface again...more likely ....Hitachi is supposed to issue a recall or atleast like sony did to cover all cost for there defective TV's....I will NEVER buy hitach again.

Hitach SUCKS.

Red haze

This problem is caused by a failure of the light optics engine, this is a very common problem on these TV's, I have replaced more than 35 of these in the last 3 years
The price of the part is around $500 to $650 not including labor

Green dot in middile of my screen

The green dot in the center sounds like a burn mark on one or more of the picture tubes inside the set, and the curved lines are telling me that you have a problem in the convergence circuits. The blue haze around everything white tells me you either have a lot of dust build up on the lens over the CRTs, or your picture tube(s) are very weak. If this set is over about 12 years old, I would replace it. I doubt if you will be able to get the green dot out of the picture without changing the tubes which would be VERY expensive.
