SOURCE: Microsoft's Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro Driver

Contrary to popular belief, there are drivers in XP for the FFP. If you configure everything properly and make sure the gameport on the soundcard is woking with updateds drivers, you should be OK. I also have the original manual to scan and send out if anybody needs it. The best option is to buy an old box, throw a 20 Gb HDD into it and load Windows 98. Easy!

Have microsoft sidewinder force feedback pro with 9 pin connecter.need usb adapter

You have the old game port connector. I have one of those too and researched it and even bought one of the adapters. What I found is that the adapters will generally work EXCEPT if your unit has force feedback. The force feedback versions of the MS sticks uses a special protocol that the adapters can't handle. I haven't looked recently, but if you look for an adapter make sure it says it will support force feedback (most will say they don't). In my case I just bought a new joystick.

buy a joystick that will work with win7, because the MS Sidewinder has no driver, and MS has no vested interest in developing one...

My sidewiner worked fine with xp now new computer

You need the USB adapter if you want to use it in Vista. They are very hard to come by, as most of them don't seem to be compatible with any of the Sidewinder products. This is your only option and not guaranteed. The adapters are about £10.
