Question about Kenmore 63942 Dryer
I have the 80 series kenmore dryer and the drum has stopped spinning. The dryer still heats but will not 'tumble'. From the back of the dryer I can see the broken belt? How do I go about replacing the belt and is it worth it?
Yes, it will save you alot of money and work just fine. You will have to shut off the dryer, turn off the gas and/or electric(disconnect it to be sure it is power free). Look at dryer carefully as you may be able to access the belt from the lower front. The belt is easily available at Sears Parts Stores. Do not use it until fixed as it might overheat!

Yes, it has a drum belt. If you can't see the belt wrapped around the exterior of the drum, more than likely it has broken and is wrapped around the drive motor shaft, or lying on the interior cabinet bottom. If the dryer still heats, but the drum does not turn, this is probably why. Please post back with your model number (located on a nameplate around the door opening) and I can tell you how to access it and/or replace it.
