Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They just created a CRT fluid kit + photo instructions for the magnavox sets.

COLOR IS DIM & THERE IS NO RED COLORINGS, WOULD THIS BE A BULB? EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL WE GOT THE HDTV SET UP. THE DVD MOVIES SEEM TO WORK FINE.

The red crt tube on your tv is going, or you need more optical fluid for the lens. Crt tubes typically run for $150-$300, and a fluid refill should be less than $100. If the tv isn't very clear or bright, even when working right, then consider just getting a new tv. These are costly to repair and will eventually begin to have more problems.

I have 9P6040CI but i can adjust the TV color. The picture is to orange and to dark

This set needs a complete coolant fluid change. This is very common for Philips projection TV's. Each tube and lens assembly will have to be pulled and the fluid changed. The fluid is put between the lens and the face of the tube for cooling the face of the tube. This normally runs in $300-$400 range. It can be tricky. Convergence can really be messed up if not done properly. Have a repair shop check it out for you. Thanks for using fixya and please take a moment to rate this responce.

My picture on my philips rear projection 51PP9100D/37 is awful and very hard to see...what do I need to fix?

HELLO: I HAVE REPAIRED MANY OF THE PHILLIPS AND MAGNAVOX PROJECTION TVS BY SIMPLY EXCHANGING THE PICTURE TUBE COOLANT INBETWEEN THE TUBES AND THE LENS THERE ARE SEALED CONTAINERS THAT HAVE A MINERAL OIL COOLANT IN THEM THEY GET CONTAMINATED BY SOME KIND OF POSSIBLE BACTERIA OF SOME KIND ESPECIALLY THE BLUE LEAVING YOU WITH A SOMEWHAT FUZZY PICTURE REDISH YELLOW USUALLY. YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN IF YOU REMOVE THE FRONT OF THE TELEVISION SCREEN AND LOOK INTO THE TUBES WHILE THEY ARE RUNNING. TO PROPERLY REPAIR THIS PROBLEM YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE TUBES IN MOST CASES OR CARFULLY SPLIT THEM FROM THE LENS ASSY BEING CAREFUL OF THE OLD FLUIDS INSIDE. CLEAN THE INSIDES WITH WINDEX AND RE ASSY WITH NEW FLUID . I HAVE USED CLEAR MINERAL OIL FROM THE DRUG STORE TO REFILL COOLANT. I HOPE THIS HELPS FROM RUSTY AT RVANS@NETZERO.NET

Fluid in len leaks out

Hello grace11112,

First I have to say that the fluid is what keeps the tube cool, if you use the TV without replacing the fluid, the tube will eventually burn out. Now the fluid has to be replaced, I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician do this. The fix for this problem is to reinstall the seals on the tube refill the coolant, and reinstall the tube. Coolant can be purchased from the manufacture or from a parts supply store.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Blue and green bulbs look like they have sawdust in them

Tubes need to be removed from set. Take off front lens with 4 screws, then remove the glass circle. Has a gasket, becareful. Do this over a sink. The fluid is a clear anti-freeze. Clean inside with Formula 409 and paper towel. Rinse with water and dry. There is a plastic expantion chamber on the side. Pull that out and clean it too. Put the tube back together. Note where the wingnut was when you took it apart and oriantate the lens to go in the same way. You can use a turkey baster to refill the tube through the expantion chamber opening. Fill it up as much as possable. Put chamber back on. Put tube face down for awhile and check for leaks. That round gasket can be reused sometimes, but check it first. Then put it back together and that's it. You'll have to unplug the board on the end of tube and the ground wires. Then unplug 2 seperate plugs...one for the yoke and the other for the convergace. Make sure you mark the wires you take off and the way the tube came out. Everything must go back the same way it came out. Fluid can be purchased at MCMelectronics.com Only need to do blue and green. Red never goes bad. Do one at a time. That's about it.

Can't see clearly the picture and alot of line

Is it the kind with the green, red, blue tubes? If so just take the back off and clean the mirror and clean the tubes with a lens cleaning cloth, also look down in the tubes with the set on ( BE CAREFUL ) if you see what looks like dirt inside of any of them then the cooling fluid can be changed in them. It is a bacteria ( i think ) that grows in the fluid but no the red color tube. I paid $80 bucks to get the refilled and took the tubes out myself, dont let someone charge you $400 to do the job.

I have a old 61 inch tv the lens are out. Are these lens still available numbers on them are 646376-1 delta 24 passed 08121490 by U S Precision Lens inc Cinn. Oh.

The lens isnt the problem the tubes(CRTs) are what go bad. Whats your model number I may be able to help you out. The other site I work at has a huge inventory of used picture tubes that are all in good working order. Finding new tubes for anything older than 97 models is almost impossible. But post your model number and I should be able to help you out.

Fluid Mold

yes it more than likely is related to the spill.
this model is famous for fluid leaks. each projector1.gif tube has a reservoir on the front of it with a fluid in it. this keeps the face of the tube cool.
this depends on how bad the damage is in the tv. in most cases we can reseal the tube and clean up the fluid 400-600.
Once you
take the tube out you will see where it leaked. The problem is that the
frame on the CRT that the heavy screws with springs are mounted on (that
hold the lens coupled to the CRT) is weak and they can bend. We have seen
several that have leaked after the customer moved the set. You can only
tighten them down so much because the frame bends. It is just stamped metal
and not welded at the corners to support the bend.

We remove the CRT, clean it all up, add a very small amount of RTV sealer to
the gasket, reassemble, let the RTV cure thoroughly and refill with coolant.
The extra sealer should prevent future leaks. Haven't had a recall yet.
Mits says replace the CRT...too costly.

You msut check the yokes carefully as well. If any coolant gets into them
you can end up with shorts there and a mess.

Clean the boards carefully and repair any corrosion damage. The coolant is
ethylene glycol and glycerine which is water soluable.

Delta 260 lens problem

The crt fluid is concentrated in the front of the chassis,I have seen them clean and working again but it can go either way, then you need to get the lens replaced with a new seal and extra sealant, the fluid is what is preventing the set from turning on.Is a hard call to make.If you clean it make sure is dry before you power on.
