Question about Televison & Video
This television is 15 months old. It is shutting off with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes it's been on for a while, sometimes not. Sometimes you can turn it back on right away, sometimes it takes 5 - 10 minutes. On some days it may happen 10 times, on other days not at all. I guess you can see what makes this problem a noodle scratcher...subwayjones
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I had a friend with the same problem. He had to clean the components and fans in the set. The accumulated dust had caused the set to run hot and a safety switch was the tv off. He purchased a few cans of compressed air and, as he blew the components and fans out, used a vacuum to capture the blown dust. Good luck.

you can do a self-diagnosis test by pressing the menu and input/device button on set for 5 sec and see what error code it gives you. Count the blinks followed by a short pause then more blinks. This is the error code.

SOURCE: television shuts itself off
i had the same problem with my set shutting off and was told it may be the ballast so i changed that but it still would start up and shut down after a few mins, then i was asked if the bulb had been changed and i had not, so i did change the bulb and have not had it shut down yet. :) (so try a new bulb)
