Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

Sanyo DP42647 Shutting off by itself.

This television is 15 months old. It is shutting off with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes it's been on for a while, sometimes not. Sometimes you can turn it back on right away, sometimes it takes 5 - 10 minutes. On some days it may happen 10 times, on other days not at all. I guess you can see what makes this problem a noodle scratcher...subwayjones

    I am working on the same model- this one has no picture- green light is on- sound there, but just static- I've discovered a melting pin on a power supply connector. connector CN2 -ribbon cable power to main board. one of the 12v pins has overheated & is turning brown. this points toward the main board or an inadequate wire size. -- this is only a starting point- it has not fixed this one yet. good luck

SOURCE: Problem with tv turning off by itself.

I had a friend with the same problem. He had to clean the components and fans in the set. The accumulated dust had caused the set to run hot and a safety switch was the tv off. He purchased a few cans of compressed air and, as he blew the components and fans out, used a vacuum to capture the blown dust. Good luck.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi VS-50707 shuts down sporadically

you can do a self-diagnosis test by pressing the menu and input/device button on set for 5 sec and see what error code it gives you. Count the blinks followed by a short pause then more blinks. This is the error code.

SOURCE: television shuts itself off

i had the same problem with my set shutting off and was told it may be the ballast so i changed that but it still would start up and shut down after a few mins, then i was asked if the bulb had been changed and i had not, so i did change the bulb and have not had it shut down yet. :) (so try a new bulb)

3 YEAR OLD SANYO DP 32746. SHUT ITSELF OFF, CAN NOT TURN BACK ON

If you leave the tv unplugged for 2 days (atleast) then plug it back in and try to turn it on and if it comes on its the power supply board. If it comes back on it will probably shut off between 30min to 4hrs and you would have to unplug it for 2 days again. All the power needs to drain out of the tv. If thats the case take the back pannel off and check the part number out on the internet. Not hard to do becarefull touching things the power supply does store a little bit or shock in it. Good Luck.

Pioneer VSX-D509S keeps shutting off

Aside from any intrinsic problem with your receiver, the usual suspects are;
1) Poor receiver ventilation. 2) Very high levels of bass. 3) Shorts in the speaker wiring. 4) A rubbing loudspeaker voice coil.
