Question about RCA RS2600 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

ERROR, NO DISK

I have experienced this both with my citizen dvd player and my RCA RS2600 5-disc changer. I turn on the unit, insert the cd/dvds and then close the tray. The unit appears to work, says reading, then stops working and says error - no disc. Then, when i try to open the tray, the tray won't open and my cds/dvds are stuck inside until someone takes it apart to get them out. I would just go buy a new one of each since they were relatively cheap but i really like both of them and would much rather fix them instead. I don't want to pay to fix them though, it would make more sense to buy a new one. Any suggestions? I just read another problem similar to mine in which the solution was to take it apart and clean the lens. I will try this, but in the meantime if anyone has any better ideas/ solutions, please respond! thank you :)

I seem to have the same problem when putting 3 disks in the changer it reconizes no disks. But it now has happened to 2 shelf units and they are pretty much new units. Is this a common problem with shelf units that the changers go out this fast.

I just bought mine yesterday and it had never been used but it was old, yet sill in its original package. I hooked it up when i got home and put 5 NEW CD's on the turntable and I pressed closed and all it kept doing was reading the CD's but not playing then and as soon as it was done with one it would go to the next, then i took it apart and cleaned the laser and it worked, but when i tryed to change the CD it would do the same thing it did before i cleaned it..and now I just caint get it to work no matter how much i clean it.

No if the cleaning does not work, you will need to have the unit hooked up to test equipment to check if the laser is bad. It could also be a bad spindle motor if the unit will not spin. good Luck

Hi I have put a cd into the changer but now cannot eject the cd, the stereo reads error 99 please advise

The CD, when inserted, became either wedged or not seated properly and the sensors dont know how to respond. Here are the codes for Kenwood.
Changer Error Codes
• E-00: Poor Cable connection.
• E-01: Magazine not properly set in changer.
• E-02: No Disc in magazine.
• E-03: CD does not have selected track number.
• E-04: Disc is dirty, upside down or unreadable.
• E-10: No data is recorded on the MD. The player plays the next disc automatically.
• E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service.

If you have a steady hand... carfully unscrew and open up the unit just far enough so you can either pull, or nudge the CD tray enough for the CD to be seated in the tray properly...
Good luck...

The following website sells the drives and does installs:

http://store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr.html

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your disc, or issues inserting your disc or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your CD Changer.
Hope this will help...

I bought a RCA 5 DVD Disk Changer last Christmas.

my suggestion (not necessarily solution) is cleaning.
Although it can take multiple DVD's there is only one reader inside of it.

Clean the inside of a 5 disk dvd/cd changer

If you go to your local electronics store or even Walmart LOL.. you can get a CD/DVD lens cleaner. it looks like a CD with a little brush attached to it. EASY AS PIE..
that is IF it is the lens.
BTW.. I am a DJ so I have had my share of drama with CD players
Hope this helps you.. I am new to this site

I have a 2004 ext cadi and bought a 6 changer cd player. when I place a cd in it shows no disk what gives? radio works, changer light up

hi, hate to be the bringer of bad news but, it seems to be a dead lens you are experiencing. The no disk error basically means that the lens sensor isn't active and it responds as if the disk was not inserted even if it is. replacing the lens will fix this issue.
