The flash unit fires in every position unless it's in the vertical position. At 45 degrees and 90 degrees, it's fine. Bit weird, this!

Just a guess work.
This may be caused by a mechanical fault. A dislodgement of an electronic component that is hanging loose. When the unit sits up-right position, the part may probably slips down, breaking contact with the circuitry but it can maintain contact with the circuitry in every other position. You could open up the unit and check to see if anything is loose.

Unit flashes the number 20

A 20 error code means the high limit switch is being tripped. This is most typically caused when scale develops in the heat exchanger. I'd recommend performing a descale on the heater to resolve the problem. Make sure to follow the instructions that came with your isolator valve kit.

Carrier hi wall split unit on light flashes 4 times ???

as i am a mechanic in sydney australia, i can honestly say that the chance of you getting help via carrier is very very slim... the reason it is doing that is that it has a legitimate problem unfortunately i have a carrier 42g250h which is flashing 4 times aswell... i have been waiting now 10 working days for carrier to call me to tell me what the problem is... if you can afford to do it, throw the damn thing out and buy a new one, i hate to say it but even an LG will work better than these heaps of ****

Unless the flash tube is cracked or broken there may be other reasons why the unit is not working. Try this- power up the unit and hold the back of it near you tear, If the ready light goes on, fire it- if you hear a slight clicking sound- the unit is working but the flash tube is either dead, broken or out of the circuit.

Unless you are experienced in electronics, the flash tube in you unit is NOT user changeable, soldering equipment skilsl are required to replace parts and even small units can harbor lethal voltages that can cause serious injury or even death- even after the unit is switched off.

Consult you local dealer or the distributor for repair services. Ed

When using with canon rebel 2000. The batteries get hot

Not enough info-

Does the unit not flash? What type and size of batteries are in use? Are there ant odors, smoke or popping sounds coming from the unit? Are the batteries rechargeable and if so dies the charger or batteries heat up during the charging cycle. WARNING! dO NOT USE IT IN THE CAMERA- A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE FLASH CAN DAMAGE THE CAMERA. uNLESS YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN- DO BIT OPEN THE UNIT AND POKE AROUND IN IT- EVEN SMALL PORTABLE FLASHES MAY CONTAIN LETHAL VOLTAGES AND CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.!

Come back with the information for more help. Ed

Flash attachment for minolta maxxum 7000

If all the ready lights come on and the unit will not flash there is a good chance that either the flashtube is burned out or broken or there is a problem in the trigger circuit. There can also be a problem in the contacts on the unit or in the camera.

The camera’s internal synchronization mechanism can be burned out, carbonized or broken down.

Neither of theses problems are a do-it-yourself project unless you are a trained camera repair person (in the case of the camera) or a qualified electronic technician with experience in high voltage devices. Electronic flash units harbor dangerous and eve lethal voltages which can cause a great deal of harm or even death.

Tests you can do: If the flash unit has its own trigger button, try it and see if it fires. You can place a metal screwdriver across the terminals at the bottom of the flash unit and see if that will fire the unit. If those procedures work then the problem is in the camera. Try the camera with another flash unit- if that works the problem is in the flash unit.

If you are using a digital camera make sure to use a trigger voltage protective device between the camera and the flash. Older flash units can harm the circuitry in digital cameras due to their higher amounts of voltage coming through the camera’s shutter.

A visit to you local camera shop may help sort out the problem. If there is a problem, the can sent the camera or the flash in for repair.

I hope this helps. Ed

Flash working inproperly

The battery contacts are not making proper contact to the battery, or there is a cold solder connection in the circuit board inside of the flash unit.

There are photo shops that can have flashes serviced, or you can send the flash to the manufacture service department.

Unless you are able to do electronics service and are used to working on high voltage electronics at the component level I don't recommend opening the flash yourself.

Inside the flash they use very high voltage at very high discharge current. Even though the flash looks innocent and works only on a few simple batteries, this can be dangeriously deceiving. The discharge current can be very high, and the main flash capacitor can hold a lethal charge for many days!

Aircondition not working

E1 indicates  Filter needs replacing/Cleaning , this code flashes after 720 hours of operation time.

Disconnect the power plug

Clean or replace filter

HOLD DOWN (dont let go) Of  the ON/OFF button and plug the unit back up and continue to hold the ON/OFF button until you hear a beep

After the beep unplug your A/C

Then plug it back up to and turn it on for normal operation

IF THIS FAILS TO REMOVE THE CODE

UNPLUG A/C  THEN HOLD DOWN THE MODE BUTTON AND PLUG IT UP STILL HOLDING THE MODE BUTTON UNTIL YOU HEAR A BEEP.

UNPLUG UNIT  AND THEN PLUG IT BACK UP AND ONE OF THESE 2 STEPS WILL FIX YOUR PROBLEM   UNLESS THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM IN THE CONTROL BOARDS

External Flash for 3000Z

I have tried a couple of external flashes on the 3000Z. It is my understanding from reading various Internet posts (and I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong) that, other than triggering the flash to go off, there is no communication between the external flash in the hot shoe of the 3000Z and the 3000Z itself. Settings need to be made manually in the manual mode to set the f-stop and the aperture to get good exposures. The Metz flashes are expensive. Most have opted to use less expensive flashes such as the Vivitar 283/383, or a Sunpak, or even a "Wal-mart" flash. I chose an inexpensive bounce flash with a secondary "fill-in" flash to get rid of the shadows sometimes seen with indoor bounce flash pics. I purchased the Phoenix 82ZBDA Multi-dedicated twin flash from Porter's Photo Catalogue for $37.95. This flash works fine, but is not that powerful (GN 79 ). If you need a more powerful flash, you might consider the Vivitar 383.
