Question about ASUS P5B-VM DO Motherboard

On barebone asus p5b-mx 1st try won't boot display but led is on

I just bought an Asus P5B-MX motherboard with intel coreduo up to 64 bit
and 2gb ram all installed.
The leds and internal speaker are all connected.
The power supply is an Atx 450w.
All is connested well and i use the onboard vga.
Dvd and Hard Disk are connected.

THE PROBLEM:
When i switch the power on every thing runs normaly, the Green Led is on for power ,the dvd open and close and the cd inside is spinning ,the HD is running (I can sense it),
the cpu fan is running but THE DISPLAY is not showing any activity and the whole thing doesn't boot .
What is the problem?

I tried to take off the Ram stick and the speaker went crying 3 times,
when i tried to restsrt,
when i put the ram again, the speaker stops

i can not figure out what is hapening , may be it is because of the 64 bits cpu?
but it is written on the booklet that  it is ok to run 64 bits with usual components:
the problem is that the normal staert up of the bios is not booting.

Check the memory and clean and reseat it, if you have more than one module put them back in one at a time to see if it boots
report back please

Hi There,

Disconnect the hard drive ribbon cable from the mother board and try again. carry on disconnecting each component at atime and trying again. Leave the video attached. this is going to be a process of elimination. sooner of later you will find out where the problem is.

My personal feeling is that the hard drive is connected incorrectly.

Let me know if you want further help.

Regards,

Philip

Are you sure the onboard video is working? Try an external card and see if this works. All the beeps when you remove the memory is good because you know the processor is working. Are you sure you have the right memory? Some machines won't boot or anything when you have the wrong memory.

Asus motherboard p5b-mx wifi won't display vga

this can be caused by a number of issues the leading being RAM (no post beeps at all). before you do anything else pull all existing RAM and install a KNOWN GOOD STICK in their place and try again.if that doesn't work try resetting the mb (see the owner manual on how to do that) bios settings to defaults (this generally selects onboard video). if you have an installed video card within the system also remove that (even though you aren't using it). is that memory compatible you have there with the board? if its too slow the stick may be fine but mb may not "think" so. do you have keyboard "flash"? is the hard drive indicator constantly lit? how about cdrom drives and/or floppies? can you eject same? all this points to incompatible or "bad" memory as the main culprit.

ASUS P5B-MX/WIFI MOTHERBOARD : NO DISPLAY

If you just bought it, I suggest you contact the store where you bought it to claim the warranty.

If you keep trying to find solution, you might do something that void your warranty.

Asus p5b-mx motherboard not showing display but every thing is on

Hi camlamm, check out Asus CPU supported list link;
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5B-MX&os=17
See if your CPU is in the list.
Bios not booting? If you are receiving any display on your monitor the trouble is not the graphics card. Suggest you clear the cmos jumper. See page 1-26 instructions your manual. This Asus board is warranted for three years. If nothing gives you access to the bios, suggest you call Asus tech, M-F, 8:00AM to 5:00PM EST at: 1-812-282-2787.

Good luck camlamm!
Thank you for using fixya.

The problem - I guess - is that this CPU is not recognised correctly by the board. To solve it, just update to the latest BIOS, using either AsusUpdate or manually from www.asus.com
