It's not uncommon for duct work in an older home to Bang as the furnace cycles due to age. The humidifier banging while turning on and of is mostlikely the solenoid valve; if the solenoid is bad it is actually to your benefit to replace the entire humidifier as the solenoids are very expensive, 50%+ of a new humidifier. Plus you get the 5 year parts warranty on the new unit instead of just one year on the solenoid. If you don't want to replace the entire unit you can replace the Humidistat, and that should fix the on/off cycling, however a new humidistat is included with a new unit, which again is more cost effective. They are easy enough to replace as a do it yourselfer, especially when replacing an existing unit. I hope this helps you.
It's probably the saddle valve. The self-piercing needle rusts and clogs the water line. Replace the saddle valve with a non self piercing one. Also, check the voltage to the solenoid valve on the humidifier. You should be getting 24 ac volts. If not, replace the transformer. If voltage is present and still no water, then replace the solenoid valve (very expensive).

The system is 24 volt AC so start by checking the voltage from the transformer to make sure it is approximately 24 volts AC. The current will flow through the humidistat when continuity is made at the control as the humidistat senses that your house needs moisture. Disconnect the wires from the himidistat and set it to a high level, you should hear a click on the way up. With the 24 volt wires disconnected, check for continuity with a volt meter. If you don't have continuity replace it. Current also flows through an inductive sensor switch that hang on a wire from the blower. When the blower wire has current flowing through it, the switch senses that an closes makin the connection. With both wires disconnected from the 24 volts you can test for continuity when the blower is running. Overall, this is a continuous circle of wiring and is not directional like DC so think of the wiring a a big loop. The correct current has to flow through the transformer, through the humidistat, through the blower switch, through the solenoid completing the the circle before the solenoid will activate. It would appear to me that you have lost the 24 volt power supply to the thermostat. In referencing the manuals for this thermostat, available @ www.honeywell.com, I've found that when the thermostat is not connected to the wall plate (plate mounted on the wall, that the thermostat either snaps or screws into), it will display the -AC. This being said, either the thermostat is loose on the wall currently, or your 24 volt transformer has died. Hope this helps.
You should have a #50 relay hooked up to the main blower assembley to turn the 24 volts on and off with the blower to the humidistat. Alot of humidifiers sold do not tell you about the #50 relay. They assume that you are a hvac pro and you aready know about.
