Question about Bose 3·2·1 II System

Stuck Disc On my Bose AV3-2-1 Media Center the disc tray randomly stopped working. I have tried unplugging it, plugging it back up, etc. All I hear when trying to eject it is a grinding noise. I think the disc tray has somehow gotten misaligned but am aftraid to open the system to get the disc out. Should I just go by a repair store?

Re: Stuck Disc

Your stuck disc could be as a result of misalignment. However,it is not advisable to DIY as this may completely damage the DVD ROM.Contact a Bose Technician for realignment or replacement of the ROM.

321 stuck disc

Take cover off. Locate tray which houses the DVD. You must locate the planet gear (teeth 360 degrees) and turn that manually. It may resist if something is stuck (kid object). Find the UFO first and get it out of there. Then try to plug unit in and eject before prying or applying pressure to the gearing to drive the tray out. You may skip some teeth on the gear and the from that point on the DVD won't load or eject correctly anymore. There is a sensitive timing sequence there so if you skip a tooth, it will need to go the repair center. Take your time and examine everything and try to remove the UFO. Turn it upside down and shake, etc. Then continue to use the eject button. This is all you can do at home. If that fails find a repair center.

It won't eject and makes a noise when I press the eject button

Sounds like the disc is stuck.
Look for a pinhole around the CD-Tray area, and straighten out a paperclip, and shove it straight back into the hole.
This should release the tray lock and eject the disc enough that you can remove it.
Once you have the disc out, try the eject button and see if it returns to normal operation (you may need to unplug and plug back in the unit)

Media Center disc tray will not open. When the "Ejecting" light displays, there is a whirring sound for a little bit but the tray does not come out. There is not a disc inside. I have disconnected the...

This is a common problem with optical drives. There is a small band/pulley inside that connects the ejection motor to the gear action, This reduces stress on the gears and it helps with smoother motion while running. The issue comes in where the band/pulley becomes worn out and loosens a bit and this causes a reduction in friction against the spindle the band/pulley is on. You may need to get a new band/pulley for your optical drives ejection system in your media center. The whirring sound you happen to hear it the ejection motor spinning but its not catching on the band/pulley.

Bose 321 dvd tray stuck

First you do is to unplug the cord of your DVD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current,the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the DVD see to it if it open If not,just try to press down on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the DVD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the DVD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter.When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly.If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn?t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There?s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also. Hope it may help you; Regards; VOTIT DONT FORGET TO RATE;

I have a lifestyle 18 bose system which only plays region 2 DVDs. How can I get it to play region 1 as well?

Hi, check below the media center/DVD player as to what region your system was fixed into (indicated by a number inside a globe). This is located underneath the unit just beside the serial number. FI the system indicates that your system indeed is set to region-2 then proceed as follows. IF it marks a different number region, then bring the unit to the Bose service center.

Steps in UNLOCKING REGION CODE of media center:

1. Load a DVD and wait for the display to show "REGION CODE ERROR, CONTACT BOSE"
2. Once this comes out, press eject button on your remote control but do not remove DVD disc
3. Press the following button commands in sequence (make sure they are in sequence and are pressed by looking into the media center display where a small green dot should blink indicating that each command is received).
4. First you need to initiate the system region change on the remote control:
a.while the tray is out and the DVD is still in the tray, press and release "RIGHT" arrow button
b. then press and release "UP" arrow button
c. after, press and release "SHUFFLE" button
d. then press and release "STOP" (black square symbol) button
e. lastly, press and release "MUTE" button and system should go on mute (indicated in the LCD display

After this, you now can change the region code by doing the following button press on your remote control:
1. While the DVD tray is out still and the DVD disc is in the tray, press and release "STOP" button (black square mark)
2. Press and release "SHUFFLE" button
3. Press and release number "0" button on numeric keypad
4. Lastly, press and release "ENTER" button on your remote control and the DVD tray should go back inside the DVD. The disc then should start loading and playing resumes.
5. Allow the DVD disc to run for a few minutes (if you want enjoy a full movie) to keep the region change resident before switching off again.

Now enjoy your Bose Lfiestyle DVD System REGION FREE!!!

Do note, this does not apply to Bose DVD system that are locked to region-1

Glad to be of service always!

DVD/CD door stuck on Bose 3 2 1

On the 321 systems turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the bass module. Wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. Then, simply hit the "stop/eject" button on the media center itself (do not turn it on first)..this should release the tray unless there is a mechanical failure inside the tray mechanism itself.

Thanks to Matthew O;Neil for the the tip,...Italo

On a Lifestyle system with a tray that won't open, try this: Turn off the power to the system and unplug the power cord to the back of the media center itself. Wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. Then, simply hit the "open/close" button on the media center itself (do not turn it on first)..this should release the tray unless there is a mechanical failure inside the tray mechanism itself.

If this does not work, then call Bose when you are home with the system at 800-367-4008.

Bose 321 DVD Stuck Won't Open

This can happen if the disc has been put in upside down accidentally, if both sides are highly reflective (e.g. blank recording discs). If so, you need to get the system to eject the system before it attempts (and fails) to read the wrong side of the disc:
On the back of the Acoustimass module (sub woofer) is a power switch. Use this to the turn the system off and wait 30 seconds. Switch it back on, the media centre flashes up "Bose 321" - press the eject button firmly once as soon as this disappears. If this works, contact Bose with the serial number from the media centre to see if the system needs a (free) software update (a disc they send in the post) - just in case the system is having general disc reading issues.

However, it may be that the drive has failed - it's a mechanical part in a mass produced system so this is not unreasonable, just disappointing. But because you have bought a premium system, the company will rush to help you - call them for a repair and explain you need the disc back urgently. they'll probably arrange an urgent, fast turnaround repair....
