Is this windows 7 64 bit? if that is the case you will probably need to update the bios chip in the laptop.

SOURCE: problem in installing new operating system on lenovo T61

I ran into the same problem when installing Windows XP SP2. This is what you do.. 1. Go into the BIOS (F1 during startup). 2. Go to the SATA menu. 3. Change the setting to compatiablty. You should be able to install the operation now. After the installtion of the base os, you should go to lenovo website to download the drivers and follow the instructions there.

SOURCE: I can not install Windows on my Compaq Evo N620c

The quickest solution here would be to put the hard drive into a computer that has Windows already running, and format it through the operating system itself. I've run into this problem a few times, and when another computer wasn't available I would use a Linux boot disk to clear out all my partition tables, then I would load up with Windows XP and tell it to write a new NTFS partition. Do NOT select the 'quick format' option, you'll have to wait through the long one.

~To download the manufacturers and therefore the correct drivers or specific software;

Always get your drivers from the manufacturer of your Laptop, Notebook or Desktop.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, All available Driver downloads as required.

If the driver is not available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are installing.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

I hope this helps.

How to make dual boot with window xp vista and windows 7

Dual booting Windows is the most challenging of the three options; however, making it work can be very rewarding. The process of creating a dual boot environment differs from Windows Vista to XP. Please follow the instructions according to which version of Windows you are currently using.
To run two operating systems on your computer, you will need to add a second partition. If you are not familiar with adding a partition, you can learn how in this section. Please note: each operating system will be able to see the other partition; thus, you can share files between them.

Dual Boot with window x and windows 7

You will need third party software to create a second partition for Windows 7; once you have created the partition, you can install Windows 7 on it.

Create a New Partition (Vista)

Click the Start button, right click Computer, and clickManage

In the left pane, click Disk Management

Now create a new partition by shrinking a previous volume so you can use the newly created space. Right click on the partition and clickShrink Volume.

Now right click the free space and click New Simple Volume…
Specify the volume size and click Next

Format the drive as NTFS, give it a label, and click Next

Power on your computer, insert the Windows 7 DVD, and restart your computer

Press the necessary key to initiate booting from your DVD (usually Esc or F12.)

Windows will now load the installation files.

Click Install now
Your computer will restart several times during the process as it configures itself and installs updates Be sure to leave the DVD in the drive and let Windows take care of itself.

Memory (RAM) – 1.25 GB required, 2 GB memory recommended.
Recommended 15 GB hard disk space per virtual Windows environment.
NB: Windows XP Mode is only available in Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have had an Evesham PC desktop computer since 2002. I use Windows XP. Is there any possibility of downloading Windows 8? Annie

You might need to upgrade a few hardware items first also you might upgrade to vista then windows 8
Creating a new partition on your hard drive gives your future version of Windows 8 a place to live on your drive.
Knowing exactly how much space the OS requires helps you determine how large to make your partition.
Size requirements don't tell the entire story on their own, though.
Other factors like drive type and additional storage help ensure you get the best Windows 8 experience where your hard drive is concerned.

Size Requirements

Both Windows 7 and Windows 8 have the same system requirement regarding hard drive space, so if your hard drive can handle Windows 7, Windows 8 shouldn't be a problem.
For 32-bit versions of the operating system, you'll need at least 16 GB of available disk space. The 64-bit version requires 20 GB.
Your partition will have to be at least one of these sizes, depending on your OS version.
The PC Advisor website warns that these are literally the bare minimum requirements, and using these figures leaves you hardly any space to save files and install apps or programs.
Size Recommendations
You'll get more out of Windows 8 if the operating system has enough free space for you to install your favorite programs and apps.
PC World calls this extra space "breathing room," suggesting you give your Windows 8 partition at least 30 to 40 GB.
If you're dual-booting with another operating system or you're accustomed to keeping excess data on a separate partition, 30 to 40 gigabytes should be fine.
If you'd rather have all your songs, videos and PC games on the same partition as the operating system, consider giving it substantially more space.
Solid State Drive
Windows 8 works on traditional hard drives with spinning disks, but it's optimized to run on a solid state drive.
If you've got an SSD, consider putting your Windows 8 partition on that drive.
While any operating system benefits from the speed increase an SSD brings, ARS Technica specifically recommends this drive type for Windows 8, saying the operating system's "tablet-esque feel and search-heavy usage model will be much better served by solid-state storage."
Other Requirements
Hard drive space is a crucial system requirement, but others are just as important.
Ensuring your computer meets the other requirements before partitioning your drive for Windows 8 saves trouble in case your computer can't handle the OS.
You'll need at least a 1 GHz processor that support PAE, SSE2 and NX.
Your computer has to have at least 1 GB of RAM for 32-bit Windows 8, or 2 GB for 64-bit.
Your graphics card must be at least a DirectX 9-capable card with a WDDM driver. Also, while you're formatting your drive, format the Windows 8 partition in the NTFS format.
Storage Spaces
Storage Spaces is a useful Windows 8 feature when you're working with multiple drives and partitions.
The tool enables you to group drives into one larger storage space so you don't have to constantly switch partitions and explore different drives.
For example, if you create a storage space between two 32 GB flash drives, you'd be able to access it as if it were one larger 64 GB drive.

C654 ssd reset

Many users have installed Windows 10/8/7 on a solid state drive (SSD) to get better read/write speed and boot speed. You may want to reset SSD to factory settings and start it over when your SSD is running slow or when you just want to dump it.
As you know, like USB flash drives, SSDs have a limited number of times that you can write data to. Therefore, you cannot reset SSD to factory default using the way of wiping hard disk drives (HDDs). How can you remove all data without hurting the SSD? You can perform a SSD Secure Erase.

An SSD is most likely your boot drive, so here we will show you how to erase SSD without loading Windows 10/8/7. You need to prepare a writable USB flash drive or CD/DVD to create a bootable disk. 2GB of space is enough.
1. Download and install AOMEI Partition Assistant. Connect a USB drive or CD to your computer.
2. In the main interface, click Make Bootable Media from the left panel and follow the wizard to create a bootable media.

3. Reboot your computer. At startup, press a specific key (F2 or Delete) repeatedly to enter BIOS and then change first boot order to the bootable disk you just created.
4. Then it will load AOMEI Partition Assistant. Click SSD Secure Erase and click Next.
5. Select the SSD that you want to reset to factory settings and click Next.
6. Confirm the SSD identification information just in case of deleting the wrong SSD. Click Next to continue.
7. In the next window, you will probably see the SSD is in Frozen state and it cannot be unlocked. Then you should perform a hot swap for this SSD just as instructed.

8. After reconnecting the SSD, click OK to start the Secure Erase for your SSD.
n seconds or probably milliseconds, you will see the SSD is a block of unallocated space and then you have successfully reset SSD to factory settings. Before you install Windows, you can use this freeware to partition the SSD and format SSD as you like.

Booting

When it come to deleting partitions or adding partitions I suggest you download WD's Data Lifeguard Tools. WD's User manual;
http://www.wdc.com/en/library/other/2779-001005.pdf
The object is to setup you're partitions in DOS mode by creating either a bootable CD or a bootable floppy disk. Using windows is not always the best way.
Same for you're Samsung drive, ES-Tool;
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/ES_Tool.html
Once completed installing you're operating system should be simple. Be sure to check the boot order in you're bios before loading you're OS.

Good luck!

My hard disk

the 7GB is probably the first partition from previous installation. You will need to delete all partitions on drive and then format the drive, that is if all is backed up. once that is done you can create a few "new" partitions and install Windoze to the first partition. make sure to make that one active and/or primary. the other partition you can use for Data.
