Hello,

You need to remove the BIOS battery for a few minutes, then put it back on.
This will reset BIOS settings and cancel the password authentication prompt at booting.

I have bought a second hand aspire 9300 and want to remove the previous owners name and put my sons on.it keeps asking for a password . p.s. i bought it genuinely from a house clearance where the owner had...

Hello pikeydad. I you don't have the owner's password I suggest you download something called Hiren's Boot here:http://www.hirensbootcd.net/download/Hirens.BootCD.10.4.zip
burn it on a CD and then boot from it and under Recovery Menu use the "Active Password Changer".
Once you remove the administrator's password (the owner's) logg in to the computer go to start-control panel- user accounts. You have to add you son's account and then log in under your's account. Then go back to start - control panel - user accounts and then click on the owner's account and click delete. You can delete the account only and keep the owner's files or delete the account and files completely.
I hope this helps. Please do not forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast free support today. Thank you :D

Toshiba satellite laptop lockout

is it a windows password or poweron password? you must be wondering what are they?
windows password is when you have to enter the password to get into windows and before that you get to see the windows loading screen.
poweron password is hard to crack, it will ask a password on a black screen saying Enter a Password, and the background will be completely black in color.
if its a windows password, press the "Alt+Ctrl+Del" twice, you'll get a screen which will ask you a username and password. in the username and password type in, "Administrator" and password will be blank. hit enter. if it works, then for the rest of the steps, mail me at L2support.hp@gmail.com

Possible reset

Acer Aspire 5315 has a restore partition to set it back to factory settings, which will keep your windows intact too, but reset everything like you just purchased it.

First boot up the computer and press F2 to enter the bios, make sure that D2D recovery is enabled. Then exit and press Alt + and tap F10 when the manufacturers name appears for example HP, Tiny, Hewlett Packard etc.. etc.. screen appears on boot. This will open the recovery program. Before you can run the program it will ask you for the password. This will be the password you chose when you first got you laptop. You may have chosen your user name password or left it blank. If you left it blank just press enter, if you did enter a password you will need to remember it, or try the word admin.

Once the system has been restored it will take time running a few checks, so be patient.

Also this will restore C:drive only, so the good thing is anything you have saved on D: drive will remain intact.

I hope this helps.

Pls i need help urgently.

Hello ,

Power On password is nothing but a hard drive lock password that comes up everytime you try booting the notebook. You have to enter it correctly in order to boot in or even to disable Power On password in BIOS.
You need to take it to the authorised service centre now where they will open up the laptop and CMOS battery (that stores the password) and reseat it. If you can then you can try it but i would suggest do not because the wirings are thin and delicate. Beleive me i have done it. Reseating the CMOS battery or replacing it is the only solution .

Password unknown and no disk to restore

The problem-- wait. Can you boot into Windows or whatever operating system you have? If you can't, that's a serious problem. Because if you forgot your BIOS password...you're screwed.

Booting

It sounds as if this is a BIOS password request.

Has anyone been changing setting in the BIOS recently?

Occasionally, static or electrical interference can cause a BIOS password to reset to it's default.

Bypassing the BIOS password is not easy, but is possible. First of all, I would suggest you try some of the common manufacturers default passowrda. You can find lists here and here.

Failing that, there are software programs available to recover/reset lost BIOS password or you can manually reset the BIOS. Details of how you do this are here and here.

If you are not 100% sure what you are doing, I would not advise you to reset your BIOS. There are setting in here that you will need to set in order for your computer to work properly. Wrong values could prevent it from working at all, or could even cause permanent damage.

Google for 'reset bios password' - You'll find lots more information...

Hope this helps,

Matt
