How to take pictures off dead emachine

The hard drive must still be working to get the pictures off. The best thing to do is remove the hard drive from the machine and use either an external USB type case to mount the drive into so you can use another computer to explore the drive or there is a tool that just plugs on to the drive with a USB cable and power supply built in that will serve the same purpose. You must get the appropriate type to match the drive type which could be either IDE or SATA. SATA drives use the small cable and IDE use the wide ribbon. If the hard drive is not working, you would have to get specialized and expensive company to retrieve the data from the drive.

My PC Will Not Start

Hi wah4pay,

this white USB plug has nothing to do with the eMachine not starting up. My guess about the white USB is it might be for your printer (If you have one). USB cable supplies 5volts DC only which it not enough to power a desktop or laptop PC.
As far as why the PC will not start, check the back side of the tower. See if the main power cable is plugged into the power supply & it also is plugged into a working wall outlet. There is a small RED slide switch on the back of the power supply. Make sure you can see the numbers & letter, 115v.
If the switch is set to 230v move it to 115v. Try starting the PC.
See this mini video of the T3646, you'll notice there are two USB ports on the back side of the PC & two more on the front of the case:

If this is a new PC, it most likely came with a one year warranty. You should call eMachine for free support. Your documentation will provide a phone number for support.
If your eMachine is not new or no longer under warranty let me know by posting here & I'll give you some other possible suggestions that may help get the system to start. Please include the year bought & month

Power Supply for L7VMM2

well,if you are sure that the new power supply is new and ok,than more than sure,if you dont have any response from the mainboard, that it is damaged by the high tension who allready burned your initial power supply.
I suggest you to visit a specialised service because for now its nothing you can do more.but first be sure you have a quite functional new power supply.
bye

W2646 crapped out

Some eMachines computers (like many from Dell) use a non-standard pin out for their power supplies, so if you try a standard ATX power supply it may not function.

However, in my experience it IS likely to be the motherboard. Luckly I have been able to replace quite a few of the eMachines mobos with a standard mATX mobo, since you can probably remove the IO plate. You'd certainly want to replace the power supply when doing so.

Intel emachine t3828

Geeze, after working on hardware for 27 years i love the short circut dummie. Anyway yes, it's the motherboard / yes the green light will still come on on that model and quite a few other models. Dont worry about repairing / i.e. removing components on the motherboard, it's a fruitless endevor but a great way to waste time. A motherboard for that model will cost about 100-150 bucks / easy replacement. It's actually rare for both the power supply and mother board to go out on a tower/mini tower type system. Older laptops had that type of prob. Those emachines were **** for the mostet part. On the other hand Gateway has really gone up in quality and i have been quite impressed with them in the last few years...

Motherboard taken out by eMachines Bestec power supply

I have not identified the specific components on the motherboard that blow, but I can tell you the defect in the Bestec supply. The +5 VSB, which is the voltage that is on at all times, loses regulation and climbs to 8-11 volts. I believe this "higher than the required" +5V takes out the components on the motherboard involved with the computer/power supply "turn-on" circuitry. The "on" button on the eMachines front panel no longer turns the motherboard on because the "kept alive when the main power is off circuits" - which allow the on/off button to do its job of turning on the machine - no longer work.
Test your Bestec power supply by plugging it in the wall socket and have it not connected to anything. Read the voltage between the purple wire and any black wire. If you see +5.0V, then this wasn't your problem. If, like it did on mine, is closer to between 8, and 11 V, this is what took out the motherboard.
