Campbell hausfeld parts are available at www.chpower.com, however, you can use standard parts like copper tube or rubber pressure hose available at Lowes lumber or True Value Hardware. Check for cause of failure of the airline, could be from vibration due to loose motor mount or faulty check valve at tank causing back pressure. Enjoy

My Porter Cable pancake air compressor is getting too hot and melting my air hose

ASSUMING THIS IS AN ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVEN SINGLE STAGE COMPRESSOR, IF THE COMPRESSOR USES OIL IN THE CRANKCASE, THE PRESSURE SWITCH SHOULD CUT OFF AT 125 PSI AS THE ACT OF COMPRESSION HEATS THE AIR QUITE HOT. THERE IS ALWAYS SOME OIL THAT PASSED THE PISTON RINGS IN THE COMPRESSED AIR. IF THE COMPRESSED AIR GETS HOT ENOUGH, THE OIL VAPOR CAN IGNITE AND THE FLAME CAN CARRY TO THE TANK FOR AN IMPRESSIVE EXPLOSION. THIS ORDINARILY DOES NOT HAPPEN BELOW 175PSI OR MORE.

OILLESS COMPRESSORS CAN BE SET TO 150 PSI. WITH EITHER TYPE OF COMPRESSOR, THE HOSE SHOULD BE ATTACHED TO THE REGULATOR OR THE REGULATOR STACK, NEVER TO THE COMPRESSOR, AS THE COMPRESSED AIR LOSES MUCH OF ITS HEAT WHILE IN THE RECEIVER. IF THE WHOLE TANK IS GETTING HOT ENOUGH TO MELT A PROPERLY ATTACHED HOSE, YOU HAVE A DANGEROUS SITUATION, CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE PRESSURE SWITCH, UNLOADER VALVE AND RELIEF VALVE. THE RELIEF VALVE SHOULD OPEN AT NO MORE THAN 150 PSI, THE UNLOADER VALVE OPENS WHEN THE PRESSURE SWITCH SHUTS THE MOTOR OFF, AND SHOULD ONLY HISS FOR A FEW SECONDS AS IT DUMPS THE PRESSURE ONLY IN THE COMPRESSOR AND THE LINE FROM THE COMPRESSOR TO THE TANK INLET CHECK VALVE. IF THE UNLOADER VALVE HISSES MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS, THE TANK INLET CHECK VALVE IS LEAKING AND NEEDS TO BE SERVICED, CLEANED OR REPLACED. IF THERE IS CARBON BUILD UP IN THE VALVE, THERE IS EXCESS OIL PASSING THE COMPRESSOR PISTON RINGS, REPLACING THEM MIGHT FIX THAT IF THE CYLINDER OR RING LANDS ON THE PISTON ARE NOT TOO TAPERED OR WORN.

What would cause hose from pump to tank on a porter cable pancake comressor get extremely hot when running

I too had noticed the heated compression rubber hose.. the older models for smaller united were made to last longer and used 1/4" copper tubing and flang fittings kence, less rubber seals to fail over the long run, although porta cable says the compressor has a three year limited warranty for this product.. Mine has started to leak just over a year and only used a few times maybe twice a month. So even ubder light duty this unit has failed not just the drain plug seal,, but internal seals inside the compressor. I have returned this ubit for a full refund. So to answer your question, "what would cause a rubber hose to get extremely hot" it is normal for all compression tubings and hoses to run hot to the touch when running long periods but it is also a problem when poor engineering and lack of quality components such as rubber seals fail and cause leaks and so causing excessive heat and internal damage to other seals under such extremes..May I suggest you contact porta cable and ask them about your trouble with the product and their three year limited warranty

My regulator adjustment knob is not working and there is no air pressure on the psi regulator gauge. Air goes into the tank and the hose from the motor to the tank gets extremely hot. Is this normal for...

The air discharge hose will normally get very hot. When the pressure regulator valve fails, it may no longer give you air. As a temp measure you can get air out of the unit by removing the safety pop valve and installing a tee fitting in the port. On one side of t fitting reinstall safety. On the second port install a quick connect for full tank pressure. Make sure that there is not air in the tank by pulling on the ring of the safety before you take it off. Replacement parts are at www.toolpartsdirect.com or dewalt service center. Good luck

Compressor will only hold 20 lbs and looking for some troubleshooting ideas

First check for obvious air leaks:
1. The drain valve on the bottom of the tank.
2. The air hose, both end connectors and the length of the air hose.
3. The air pump, where the line comes out of the pump and where it goes into the tank.
A spray bottle with soapy water works well for this. Sprayed on these areas, look for bubbles indicating a leak. If the motor/air pump is hot make sure the bubbles are not from the solution boiling away.
If these check out, you may have a damaged valve plate or piston/cylinder assenbly. Damage to either will not let the pump move enough air to fill your tank. To check these you have to remove the pump head. The check valve(s) are on a plate directly under the head. Check that the reed(s) are not chipped, cracked or broken off. They have to be in perfect condition to seal the incoming and outgoing air holes so air can be compressed enough to fill the tank. If OK, check the piston and cylinder. They have to be in very good condition to compress the air also. Some times the ring(s) around the piston get damaged and won't seal to the cylinder well. If any of these are damaged you'll have to replace them to get a good seal so air can be compressed and forced into the tank.

My compresser build pressure, stopes, then it leakes the air from the electrical box buy the small line comes from the tank to the othank youff/on switch box, goes down to 80 lbs then start again ?

G'day. You have a leaking check valve. This is the valve that is inserted between the compressor pump discharge pipe & the tank.DO NOT try to remove this valve with pressure in the tank.DRAIN ALL AIR FIRST. Some rightangle check valves have a removable hex nut with a valve behind which can be replaced seperatly(in stead of a new check valve assembly). Just to clarify-the check valve is at the tank end of the little hose that the air is leaking from. WARNING-DO NOT REMOVE ANY FITTINGS WITH AIR IN TANK .Hope this was helpfull

you would have to go to the store where you bought it from and buy a new pressure regulator. i've had this happen on a similar compressor. valve inside pressure regulator goes bad from moisture in tank if its not drained daily after each use and starts to corrode. if i can help any other way let me know and good luck

When you compress air the moisture in the air condenses and pools in the tank, all compressors do this whether new or old. If there is water built up in your the tank it will come out when you release the air. There is a valve on the bottom of the tank you have to open from time to time to drain this water from the tank. Take the compressor outside if possible or have something under the valve to catch the water as it comes out. Open the valve slowly or it will blow the dirty/rusty water all over. Campbell Hausfeld and some other companies make filter/driers to put on your supply line if the air needs to be dry for your use. Most box stores (Home Dept, Lowe's, etc.) carry these driers or can order them for you.

Coleman 5Hp Compresser

All electric compressors share a basic design with ac power pressure switch with unloader and checkvalve between the pump and the tank. When the pressure switch powers off, it unloads the compressor by releasing the air in the discharge hose. You will notice a small tire stem pin and a lever to engage it somewhere on the pressure switch. If the compressor stops before reaching set cutoff point, the air pressure remains in the discharge hose not allowing the motor to start, thus the hum you hear. Solution is to check for the proper function of pressure switch /unloader, tank check valve (if check valve leaks air back to compressor it will load motor causing hum) and extra measure check capacitor for at least 90% of rated valve. Finally, do not run this compressor with an extension cord, use more hose instead. enjoy
