Question about Mitsubishi WS-55805 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsu HD1080 I'm getting dark areas on the left and right bottom half off the picture. The darkness abruptly ends where widescreen takes over from standard in a perfect vertical line on both side. It is very noticable when watching hockey in HD. Any thoughts? Thanks...

Re: Mitsu HD1080

There is a possibility that the problem lies on the "Doubler" circuit board with this set, especially if the darkness looks like a smear in the picture during bright scenes like a hockey game.

Dark picture

you know it sounds like the same problem i had....
look this is something you can try.... "turn the tv off and unplugg it!!!"'ll need to take out the lower front part of the tv......(where the speakers are to be exact) on each lower end you will find 2 screws..Be careful it will open to the side and there are many wires, i suggest you mark them to know where to put them back...then right in the middle there will be a black cover with about 5 screws..take them out....and look at the very bottom you'll see a thing with 6 pegs....the top ones are for the screen "DO NOT TOUCH THEM"...the ones on the bottom are for the adjust them...the left one it's for blue, the middle one it's for green and the last one it's for red...

I had the same problem after i moved....and after i re adjust that the tv looks super...
i hope that helps..:P

Red Bowed Lines / Red Hue

I tried the solution that was posted for this problem and it worked!
Just remove the Low front panel by removing the two bottom screws that are covered by two screw covers, then remove the second panel (black) by removing the 4 screws then you'll notice a module with 6 adjustment knobs, get a small screw driver, and with the t.v. on, being carefull , and with somebody accross the room looking at the screen begin with the lower left knob and turn left very slowly and ask the person across the room to let you know if the screen is better or not, after this I had to adjust the green as well so, I adjusted the next knob over to the left. Do this adjustment carefully and try to remenber the original position of the knobs in case you have to go back.f
Good Luck,

Dark bottom half of screen and dark patch in corner

Thanks for the picture - that's a big help.
It looks you have the dreaded light tunnel collapse common to all LG1.gif DLP TV's. Inside the light engine there is a square tube made up of four mirrors. These mirrors deform and crack with the heat of the lamp. They fall down over the light aperture and cause a shadow of varying degrees. It is fixable now at a realistic price ( used to have to replace engine) as LG have made the parts available. It would take a competent tech around three hours to complete or if you are technically minded you could do it yourself. I hope this helps.
Hope Ya Fix It!

Left side of television just started having a shadowing problem?

I have the same problem and was told by a technician that I need to replace the light engine. Probably around $ 700.00.

Side shadows on picture

it sounds as if there are speakers to close to the tv or the built in speakers are not magnetically sheilded properly (maufacturer defect) if u have or have ever had speakers on the left and right side of your tv then the magnets in them will discolor and distort the screen. sometimes even long after the speakers have been moved away from the tv it will still look that way. you may try going to the library( or online )and looking in tv repair books on how to build a homade degauser unless your tv has that feature built into it in the menu somewhere like some computer monitors do. I had placed the front speaker of a 5.1 surround sound system on top my tv and it cuased that same problem, but i found out that by placing a small round magnet with a hole in the center on top of the tv (after removing the speaker for good) right where the discoloration was.. had to flip it one side or the other to get proper immediatly took away most of the discoloration and over time it disappeared. I hope this helps. Please email me at as to your conclusion in case it will help others. thanks, Adam

Dark screen at top of TV picture

If this is a projection set then a center channel speaker sitting on top would have no effect.
