Make sure your door sensors are pointed at each other and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a little.

SOURCE: Door will only close when held down

That normally happens when the sensors aren't aligned. Both sensors have led lights on them the yellow/orange one will stay on all the time the green one will go out if it cant see the other sensor. Possibly theres a wire that's broken or the other sensor is really out of alignment. Check every inch of wiring from the sensor to the opener, remove wire nuts if present and check the connections. The wires that are used are small, solid and can break easily. Also see if there's a staple that's too tight, move the wire abit where it's stapled and look for damage.

SOURCE: garage door opener

You need to do is shade the eyes some how for th door to work. What I did was remove them and put them up by the opener so the sun does not get to them.

SOURCE: garage door opener will not go down.

After reading the responses I went out and looked at the sensors, but this time instead of aligning up and down I moved the one sideways and WOOHOO! the remote works fine now.

SOURCE: My garage door opener won't close the garage door.

Most likely your door sensors have been bumped and are not aligned properly. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.

SOURCE: Garage door closes then reopens (does not stay shut)

On the side of your opener you will find the down limit control. Using a small screwdriver turn this control in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. May take some tweaking to get it just right.

My mom & I each have a Craftsman garage door opener at our respective homes & live @ 15 minutes apart. Our openers are about 13 to 14 yrs old. The past two yrs. we've both had the same problem. ...

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure both lights on the sensors stay on and don't flicker while the door is moving and the sensors are firmly attached so they don't move. Tweak them just a bit.

Garage door opener

This is cause when there is something blocking one of the sensors. Look on each side of your garage door near the concrete when the door is closed and you will see small sensors that are facing each other.. Make sure they are not misaligned and that nothing is in front of them.
