The files on the computer are safe unless you 'physically' click on them and delete them. If you had a program open such as Office , Sage etc, often they will make a backup copy if the computer shuts down suddenly.

This sounds like a driver problem, make sure that you have the right drivers for the keyboard and and mouse, once installed, the computer should find keyboard and mouse automatically.

Hope this helps a bit

Why wont the mouse, keyboard and monitor not work after cpu, pwer supply install...

If the motherboard used to work with the old cpu and power supply, but does not with the new cpu and power supply, then probably the cpu or power supply is bad.
Why did you change the cpu and power supply?
If the power supply went bad, it could have overloaded the mother board as well as the old cpu.
If you think the old cpu went bad, how do you know it was not actually the motherboard that went bad?
All I can suggest is that you double check all the connections.
If you have USB mouse and keyboard, try a DIN connected pair.
If you are using the onboard graphics, try a PCI express card instead.
Tell us if there is any front light activity from the power switch, drive, etc.?

It just stopped working, no light no nothing

The most probable causes of this problem is that the receiver which is connected to the CPU or it is already broken. Try to check all your connection (of your wireless keyboard and mouse) replug it then restart your computer. If still don't work, it is already broken.

Can't wake the computer

Probably there is no connection between your keyboard and mouse to the CPU. Check for proper connection of your keyboard and mouse. If the connection is good, probably there is the problem with the cord that is connected with your mouse or keyboard.
Turn off first your PC before making any connections.
After you confirmed that there is no problem with the connection, probably the problem is at your mouse or the keyboard itself.

Did you figure out your KVM?

if you tried to connect your mouse to the keyboard port and still it doesn't work. Power cycle meaning unplug the KVM from the CPU, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Then wait for about 30seconds before reconnecting again. If you still encounter the same problem that the keyboard port won't work then it means that keyboard port is defective. Replace it.
