I dont know what kind of machine you have , but it sounds like a drum problem , you need to replace it.

Service engine error 181.514

Service Engine Error 181.2049 Maint failed to prime back pressure

This error most frequently happens during the initial printer setup. Another reason for this error to occur is when using malfunctioning cartridges or cartridges that do not have enough ink to complete the initial setup of the printer.
Inserting a new set of setup cartridges or by using the setup cartridges provided with the machine would resolve this issue. To identify whether you are using the setup cartridges.
If you are already using the new setup cartridges, unplug the power adapter from the back of the printer and re-plug it after five seconds and let the machine attempt a second initial setup.

My black cartridge was nearly out of ink and the printing was either ghost text on some lines and on others as if someone had drawn a thin white line thru the text. I have just received a brand new black...

There may be some dust on the contact on the printer, first thing you should do is get a q-tip and clean the contacts carefully to ensure there is no dust or other contaminants on the contacts where the cartridge connects.
Also please could you supply the printers make and model so I can look into this further

Printing is blank but I have new ink cartrigde in

The print-head stucks (FIXYA would '****' the preceding word, if I left out the 't') ink from the ink-cartridge, and sprays the ink onto the paper, when the print-head is *NOT* "clogged".

Run a "print-head-cleaning" cycle to "unclog" the print-head.

We have Epson ink jet printer. It worked fine when we got it last month but now the pictures are really awful - the colors are blurring and running together and there are recurring horizontal streaks...

Maybe the ink cartrigde is running out. Get sure that the cartrigde has enough ink, if it has not then reload it. If it has enough ink, then review that the printhead be clean, (you could clean it by using Isopropyl alcohol), then you can use the tools included in printer software to align or maintain cartrigdes. If this does not fix the problem, then replace the cartrigde.

My printer wont accept my coloured ink cartridge

Is it the new original cartrigde colour or not ? If yes, you should ask a guarantee from the seller.
There is a chip inside the cartridge, sometimes it doesn't compatible for the printer software to read the chip.
The printer will keep asking for the new one if there is no ink in the cartridge.

Text is "ghosting" when using card stock

I sort of solved my ghosting problem by selecting print, set up, and then under media type selected thicker paper. This apparently pulls the card stock through at a slower rate which helped tremendously. One of my documents turned out perfect and the other "ghosted" just a little.

Ink cartrigde

Did you remove the protective blue tape from the cartridge bottom, if please clean the cartridge Take a warm, damp paper towel or napkin and gently clean the bottom of the car where ink comes repeat the same process with dry paper towel and try to print , if you still have the problem you can contact lexmark and get the cart replaced with a new one as the cart comes with 6 months warranty.......

RECOGNITION OF GENUINE CANON INK CARTRIDGE

I posted the original problem. Although the cartridge was genuine I had taken it out and reinserted it as I wasn't sure I had loaded it correctly the first time. Advice from my local retailer was that this was a mistake. Canon PIXMA printers no longer recognise a cartridge once it has been removed. Solution was another new cartridge which I shan't remove until it's empty. When this second cartidge is empty I shall try the first cartridge again as it is still full and unused. It has yet to print anything! Why Canon's helpdesk couldn't help is a mystery. I conclude that Canon's printer management systems are unfriendly to users. They are friendly only to Canon. I hope my experience will help others especially those considering buying a Canon printer. dudbob
