Question about GE 13TVR70 13 in. Combo

Open Question

Wake Timer If I set the wake timer to a CATV channel above 13, the tuner reverts to antenna instead of cable. Since there is usually no signal then I get a blue screen/no audio.

Mintek DTV-260

The Mintek DTV-260 only has a NTSC (analog) tuner. You will need to connect your RCA antenna to a digital to analog converter box to watch TV over the air. Then connect the output of the converter box to your TV.

The common converter boxes are limited to SD output. You might be able to find an HD converter box online. (With the standard converter box, the available outputs are coaxial and composite video.) The DTV-260 has a composite video port; alternatively set the TV to channel 3 or 4 and use the coaxial (RF) input on the TV.

There may be a low-power station that still broadcasts in analog. However these are rare. You will need to switch from CATV to OTA (Air) to check for one of these stations. Analog Cable has different parameters than scanning for over the air signals.

I hope this helps.

I cant get any channels with my coby tv

This COBY only has an analog tuner. Thus unless you are close to one of the remaining low-power stations, you need a digital-to-analog converter for OTA TV signals. For digital TV, you should use or to identify the antenna and direction for the digital signals that you may be able to receive. Antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna is conservative in the channel list it provides. Digital signal is either enough to register with the tuner or No Signal. An amplifier may be needed is the signal is split to several TVs.

If you have cable, check the type of signal coming in to the TV. If the signal has been switched to digital, you need a set top box.

I hope this helps.

Can only receive cable channels 2 through 13;

Turn the unit off, push the setup button 3 times. Press the seek left/right to switch between cable / antenna tuner modes. When cable is selected, press the channel up/down to switch between cable modes. When the unit turns back on, it will rescan for channels.

Only goes up to Channel 19.

Go into the TV's setup screen and make sure its tuning mode is set for "cable" (may say "CATV"). I'm not familiar with this set so I don't know exactly what the screen will say, but there should be some reference to channel setup, TV setup, tuning band, etc. It's probably set on "AIR" now.

Normally, when set for off-air reception, the set works properly for channels 2 through 13, and 14 up don't tune properly. Since you're getting channels up to 19, there may in fact be some kind of tuner problem. If the TV is already set for cable tuning, you may have found why the former owner was freecycling it. But check that tuning mode.

In the Setup menu there is an option to specify if you use an antenna or cable. Just switch it to antenna.

Only goes to channel 13

It probably has to do with a setting in your menu. Usually it is the antenna category. Change it to Cable or CATV.

I have the 13 inch and...

If you get channels 2 to 13 nice and clear but the rest are snowy, it means that the TV is set to the broadcast channels, which means that for the channels above 13 it is tuning in the old-fashioned UHF channels. If the TV is set to the cable mode then it tunes in cable channels above 13. To do this, enter the menu and navigate to the tuner settings, set the tuner to standard cable and then do the autoprogram, and the tuner's memory will be set for your cable system.

Quasar VV-2001 TV/VCR combo - msg: Check Antenna Cable Connection

Check first the antenna using another TV. If there is no other TV available, check using an ohmeter. If you are 100% sure tha the antenna is ok then the antenna connector on your Tv is not making a good connection to the antenna plug.

Receiving tv programs

In the menu theres a channel set up mode. You want to switch from antenna to cable mode, then do an auto search. Then all your cable channels will come in. Your going to need the original remote to go into the correct menu. good Luck
