Question about Intel i865PE (KD865PERLK) Motherboard

1 Answer

Computer virus I believe I have a virus on my computer. My computer virus protection ran out and I procrastinated and got a virus before i bought more protection. It started off that my computer was showing errors and freezing up. Then it would not start up at all. It would finally start up in safe mode but I have this gen clock warning that comes and to press the insert key. I am not sure what that means. I went into to setup and made sure everything was set to what the manual has displayed but this gen clock warning would not go away. I looked further into the manual and saw that i could clear the CMOS jumper. I did this not really understanding what it would do. Whatever it did it allowed me to finally boot up my computer. I was able to boot up normally and was trying to figure out how to clear the hard drive and start over. However it kept freezing up and now it won't start up at all. I keep getting the code C1 as to why the computer fails to boot. Which according to the appendix of the instruction manual the code means detect memory. Auto detection of DRAM size, type and ECC. Auto-detection of L2 cache socket 7 or below. This is all great but I am not sure what to do. I just want to wipe my computer clean and start all over but right now I can not get the computer to boot up. Can you tell how to get the computer to boot up and how to erase the hard drive?

    Hey Richard,
Thanks for your response. The computer won't boot up atall. It either stays in reserved mode or code C3 Expand and compressedBios codes to DRAM appear or C1 detect memory and the computer neverboots up. I read somewhere else this could mean I have bad caps orleaking caps. Could this be true? Or do you think it has to with thevirus? Do you have any solutions on how to get the computer to boot?
I can not figure out how to sign in to reach just you.

Hi there... i bought asus P5G41T-MLX3 last february and this august i encountered problems.. first, the audio was lost then the following day my mouse which was attached on usb port at the back of my unit...

You maybe having spikes on the mains supply that is causing your computer to malfunction.
Connect a surge protection power board to the main outlet and then connect all your computer equipment to the surge protection power board.
A better and more expensive solution is to purchase an Uninterrupted Power Supply and plug all your computer equipment into this UPS. Make sure the UPS has the KVA rating that supports the power requirements of your computer equipment plus a spare capacity for any future needs.

I am sorry to hear that your USB pen drive got a virus. If the message you get when you are cleaning or reformatting the drive is password protected, the drive is very much finish. I would suggest you to buy a new one.

Hi, I have recently bought a 4GB SanDisk Cruzer Blade. Every time I plug it in the PC my antivirus (Avast Pro 4.8) detects a virus in autorun.inf. The problem persists even if I format the flash...

It's detecting your scan disk as a virus because it doesn't recognize what the plug in is. Yes, I would indicate virus as a false alarm. It will probably work then. Should hurt your computer. Unless sanDisk was bought out of retail. If a problem arises like a virus does become uploaded to your hard drive. Then I would go to where I bought sanDisk and tell them of the problem you are having. The may be held accountable.

The computer locks up when I an runing 2 or more programs. I have replaced the memory and reinstalled operating system. I also reformated my hard drive.

Make sure you have enough Ram. Then check for viruses.

This actually sound like the Rogue Virus. This Virus normally corrupts your computer. You probably will need to do a Reformat. Be sure and do a Back-up First., because you will loose everything.

If you know how to do a back-up, save all your documents, pictures and music. If not take it to a reputable computer shop to take of this. There will be a slight charge, but they will save all your important data.

ACPI BIOS attempting to read/write to an illegal IO port address (Ox75/Ox75) which lies in the Ox74-Ox76 protected address range.results in fault in booting. Any advice? Thanks

Check your hard drive for viruses.
If you are running a version of Windows, boot to safe mode and run an anti-virus program. Scan the whole hard drive.
If you do not have any anti-virus program, download or get one and scan the computer.
