Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a Canon i860 printer. The color printing is coming out wrong... full of bands of color and no blue at all. Are the heads dirty? How to clean? Thanks.

Before you do something which could potentially damage the machine. Use the printer software to do a nozzle test, make sure you have the correct paper settings, and make sure that you have color management enabled in the driver properties. If you have exhausted all other possibilities carefully clean the docking pads as some leeching across colors has always been apparent even from the first Canons.

I get big horizontal bands across my printouts

If you are sure that the paper type chosen is correct for the paper that you are using, then it is probably coming from the print heads which are either dirty, misaligned or defective. Try cleaning the print heads as your first step and see if this improves.

Try print head cleaning first. if standard cleaning does not work perform deep cleaning. If the problem still persist you should replace your print head.

Yes head probably clogged. You can try cleaning head multiple times, I think this is a pigment ink machine, so get only these carts for it

My Canon i860 just can't print out black words, it's frustrating

pull the ink cartage back out to see if a clear film is not on the cartage??? Check the area by cleaning the ink cartage with rubbing alchole, and also the area that the ink cartage goes into. Use a cotton ball the clean these area with.

Canon i860 won't print deep colors

I had similar problem: everything muted and with brownish tint. Tried everything, finally discovered that I installed wrong cartridge: 6PC instead of 6C. The "photo" cartridges are pretty much the same, make sure you have the right ones: 6C, 6M, and 6Y.

How to remove printhead from canon i860

The gray-colored arm (it's not that small) is to the right of the cyan cartridge. It is the arm or extension of the gray-colored hinged cover. Remove all ink cartridges, lift the gray-colored arm up, and pull the print head out. Clean the print head with a cotton ball soaked with water or rubbing alcohol. Dry and re-install the print head.
