Be careful. Someone I know, who believed that changing a keyboard is piece of a cake, had to take his keyboard parts and laptop in a shoebox to a repair technician

How do I remove/replace the keyboard from a HP Pavillion dv7-2277cl

1. Remove 6 screws from the bottom of the case (as shown). These screws hold the accessory cover.

2. Remove one screw securing the CD/DVD drive. Slide the CD/DVD drive to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard. Remove the CD/DVD drive.

3. Remove all marked screws from the bottom of the notebook.
The yellow circled screws secure the keyboard cover, and the green one secures the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

4. Turn the computer display-side up and open it as far as possible. Insert a guitar pick or small flat screwdriver between the keyboard cover and case and slowly move along the side.

5. Lift the keyboard cover. Be careful, it's still connected to the motherboard. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector and disconnect the cable from the LED board. Remove the keyboard cover.

6. Remove the four screws that secure the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

7. Lift the rear edge of the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard until it rests at an angle. Slide the keyboard back to disengage the tabs on the front edge of the keyboard from the top cover and rest it on the display.

8. Release the ZIF connector to which the keyboard cable is attached and disconnect the keyboard cable. Remove the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

Laptop fan has a noisy and pc is shutdown after some time ..so can I replace the fan ? pavilion dv3-2175ee

How to Replace a HP Pavilion dv3 Fan?

1. Follow your laptop owner's manual and assembly guide carefully you can download this from HP web site as you disassemble the laptop. Touch something metal periodically to remove static charge, and work on a large table with a bright light source.

2. Turn off the laptop and unplug it. Remove the main battery, CD/DVD drive and the hard drive. The hard drive is usually located in a slot on one side of the laptop. Remove the screw that holds the cover in place, then pull out the hard drive sled.

3. Turn the laptop over and remove the screws on the bottom that hold the keyboard in place. Flip the laptop over, open it, then lift the keyboard up and out. Unplug the flexible ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard.

4. Remove the screws that hold the keyboard bezel and palm rest in place. Carefully pry loose any plastic snaps on the sides, then lift the bezel and palm rest up and out.

5. Unplug the HP Pavilion dv3 Fan Cooling Fan. Remove the screws that hold the heat sink and fan in place, then remove the entire unit from the laptop. Remove any thermal compound residue from the bottom of the heat sink and the CPU.

6. Apply a thin layer of thermal compound on the CPU, then replace the heat sink and fan. Replace the screws, plug the HP Pavilion dv3 Fan back in, then reassemble the laptop.

7. Plug the laptop in and turn it on. After you use it for a few minutes, you should hear the new fan running and feel warm air blowing from the vent on the side of the laptop. A HP Pavilion dv3 Fan does not run continuously, so don't be concerned if the HP Pavilion dv3 Fan shuts off periodically.

I have a HP Pavilion dv9930us and its look likes a key is stuck on it. I want to replace the keyboard. Where do I start? i don't see any screw on it.

You will need a tork screwdriver to remove the screws. They are black and hard to see at times. Turn your laptop over so its on the screen and you should see them. Most times HP have keyboard symbols on the bottom to show you were the screws are.

How do I change/remove the keyboard on an HP Pavilion dv9700? There's a manual (linked to also from this site) on the HP site, but I get stuck on step 2, where there's reference to three screws above the...

The panel above the keyboard must be removed first. This requires removal of the battery and several screws across the top (from the back). Pry up gently but firmly. This will expose the 3 screws you are looking for. HINT: when removing the screws, lay them out (preferably on a piece of cloth or towel) in the order that they go. This makes reassembly much easier. Good luck.
