Question about Daewoo DSJ-5510CRA 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

GHOSTING The top of the picture all the way acroos the tv is fuzzy. I called a repairman and they replaced a board they say was "leaking" oil. It did not correct the problem. Last month I had put on a 3D DVD and a few adjustments had to be made on the tv to view in 3D. How do I reset the TV back to factory presets? Te tv repairmen left a stated the dvd might have broken a computer chip in the TV.

First of all boards don't leak anything. The leakage was caused by one of the projection tubes leaking its coolant. If the faulty tube wasn't repalced then you will start all over again with the same issue and cause more damage to the TV. Not only that but the loss of coolant in the tube will cause the picture to be partially out of focus (the defectinve tube that is). DVD players don't break ANY chips inside of the TV. Sounds like a repairman who doesn't know what he'she is doing and needs to exit this type of work.

The picture is very wavy and fuzzy sound is perect

Depending on the specifics of your tv (flat screen LCD, LED etc, Plasma, or CRT)
Unfortunately sounds like ghosting / indicative of Bad Panel.
BUT to be sure ...
Double check picture settings to be sure setting inadvertently changed. try using Component to be sure connection isn't problem
Mechanically
COULD also be defective T-con, or in plasma a sustain board can create issues. (for a TV shop to determine/ high voltage is present so not for the untrained)

Our tv just started having a fuzzy image and the auto focus function aborts during the red color alignment. is there a manual alignment I can do to fix it.

What does this fuzzy image look like? Does it have ghosting shadows. Of course it is possible to align red manually from the convergence menu. But first lets confirm that it is indeed a convergence related problem.

Picture becomes fuzzy and lined, clears with a sharp rap on the top of case.

probably a bad connection on the circuit board inside that heats up over time. the tap on the top probably moves the connection just enough To make it good for short time.
