Sometimes when the evaporator fan goes out, it takes part of the motherboard also. (part number WR55X10552, which also subs into a WR55X10656) If this is the case, I would not expect the refrig to be running either. (If your compressor still runs, check door switch.)

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

I have a ge gss22kgpacc side by side, the freezer is working, lights, etc. all working, but the refrigeratoe side is not working, any insight? thanks, mike

on most units they have two controls refrigerator control is electric t-stat that runs compressor freezer control think of it as a door colder freezer door is barely open warmer freezer door all the way open all cooling coils are in the freezer and a fan moves the air to refrigerater side possible problem fan not running
door freezer control all the way closed
light switch broken light staying on door gasket not sealing tight find door switch press verify light shuts off and fan starts
look for torn or damaged door gasket can look from outside with light and see if gasket contacts case on all four sides
freezer is cold enough so compressor is ok hope this helps good luck ron

Refrigerater is not cooling

The refrigerator gets air from the freezer. Look in the freezer for frost. If you have frost in the back or bottom the you have a defrost problem. Could be a timer or heater that is bad. If no frost do you hear a fan? You should have a evaporator fan running. Maybe thats out and it not circulating air for the refrigerator. You can check this out.
Hope it helps

In new models the freezer also cools the refrigerater with a fan. you have to call a repairman to do this work. he has the equipment to test the fans.

Fan works light works but no cooling in either the freezer or refrigerater

The fan in the back of frig will run. Try replacing the evaperator fan and if the evaporator fan does not work replace the thermostat.
