You have not mentioned the PC operating system like Win XP, Vista, Win 7.

Printer assistant replaced Solution Centre a few years back. Either one will be in the full software download from HP

1.open the HP Director/Solution Center
2.click on scan menu and go to destination list tab
3. on the left side u will find a list of available destinations , move them all to the right side (front panel destination list) and save and then try to scan again ,
