Have a stihl chainsaw that's probably 10 yrs old. Will start ok but the chain won't move when given gas. It revs but won't move.

I guess the first thing to look at is chain free to move ?, do this with saw off ! and not running , if its not free to move give a good look at the chain brake , if chain moves free with a gentle push , then your clutch is in need of replacement good thing as stihl makes parts for there old saws still too , now if your saw was 20 yrs old your clutch is rebuildable

I fill the tank with petrol , not 2strike. i think i destroyed the piston. i want parts (pm 484 model)

cost you more to buy the parts than to get a new saw.and thats not even considering the labor which will be twice the parts cost. wrist pin ,connecting rod, rings ,piston
a lot of work with no guarantte that it will run or for how long it will keep running.
I just bought a new 2013 saw for $20.00 more that they wanted for a new carb for my old saw and went from a old worn 14 in
bar and dull , worn out & streched out chain to a brand new never used bar & chain which goes for38.95 at rome depot
so, if i take the price of a new bar & chain off the price of the saw,I got the new power head for only $40.00
I know, thats weird thinking----but not that far out there .

The only reason you should consider fixing your old saw is if its a like 100 cc or something that cost $995.00 only then would it be worth thinking about.

try this saw on for homelite 38cc,16 inch chain & bar with 3 point anti vibration handle ,8 hour cutting ,imcluding many breaks & no numb hands.
reconditioned ,60 day money back warranty $ 79.00 & ship
free ship for first time buyers if you sign up for internet fliers
only 9.7 lbs not much operator fatigue even at 65 yrs old.

I was given a yamaha 125 enduro im guessing about 1974 the tag is wore off. anyhow somebody messed up all the wires. no signallights, horn, headlight, killswitch. i dont have any idea what wireing i need to...

I am well familiar with your bike. The big problem is getting repair parts. All in all, the bike is probably not worth messing with. Grab the flywheel and lift up and down then left and right. If it is not rock solid the crank bearings are bad, and the crank seals also. Do you know if it will shift properly? Bent shift forks are not a good thing. Either of these will cost about $700 to fix, IF you can find the parts AND if you can find someone who is willing to do the work without access to a service manual. Generally, dealers will not work on a bike over 10 years old. Gas tank rusted inside? Battery shot? Does the clutch operate properly? I will bet it needs a new chain.

You will put a lot of time, effort and money into the bike. When you are through you can sell it for around $300 if you are lucky. Sorry to mess up the celebration. That's why you got it for free.

In any event, Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part and/or the notation "Not Available" is in the description, the part is not in stock.

Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?

I believe there is a silver chain necklace stuck in the motor and now the machine won't spin! Is it worth fixing??? How much do you think it would cost for the maytag repairman to fix? Approximate is...

i would say it would defantly be worth looking at if it just something stuk in the pump or motor and no parts are needed it would be worth the repair if it needs a part the repair man should let you know how much the part is and you can compair that to the price of a new machine they start around 300 -350 a service call have the machine checked could run between 50 - 100 don't know what people charch where you are

Shall i purchase a second hand karizma

Hi ....... Any vehicle is capable of high milages if well looked after. Main thing to look at is any service history, regular oil changes (very important) and general condition of service parts and fasteners which hold them on. At this milage I'd expect the cam chain to have been changed, along with ALL guides and followers. Make sure bike is cold when you arrive, start it (how easy and no smoke ?) and whilst it warms up have a good look around the bike at consumables (chain & sprockets, tyres, exhaust etc) ...... these are all the things that mount up the cost to replace. If the climate is strong sunlight then paintwork will fade and that alone will not give an indication of the general condition of the machine. Good Luck, let us know how you proceed.

I have a 91 nissan stanza 2.4 and the timing chain broke. I do not know if you need to drop the motor if yes how do i do it. I have done mechanic work on other car but they were american made and back in...

It is probably not the timing chain but the tensioner and guides. The guides are some bakelite plastic ****. you need to take off a lot stuff, belts power steering, altenator pulleys timing case cover. Check the timing gears and chain for damage. Replace guides tensioner and any damaged parts. Disconnecting the front motor mounts you have raise and lower the front of engine with a hoist to gain access to the timing case. A long tedious job and hopefully your valves weren't damaged when the chain let loose if so the whole thing is just not worth it
