Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Wont recognize cartridge

When changing ink cartridge #5 printer does not recognize. Now all wont light up. We tried taking all cartridges out, turning off printer, restarting , even unplugging it. We bought another cartridge thinking it was faulty cartridge. What else can we do???I have three mp830 printers in my office and two of them won't recognize ANY of the ink tanks. (even thought the red indicator lights ARE lit). The error message is U043 "The following ink tank cannot be recognized" and the LCD screen shows a diagram of all 5 tanks. An on-screen message repeats the warning and lists all five tanks by color.

I've tried swapping the print heads and ink tanks to the one machine that still works and everything works in that particular printer. So, I know that the problem is not in the print heads or the ink tanks, but rather in the printers themselves.

I've tried powering them off, which does nothing. This is very frustrating. They ain't cheap machines.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer: The copper-colored strip that has the dots on it is the connection between the printer and the cartridge. Just handling this during the refilling process will sometimes cause the connection to fail. A faulty cartridge will also cause this problem.
Solution: Clean the contacts on the cartridge with a cotton swab, or cotton ball, and some alcohol.

Answer #2: The cartridge is too full of ink.

Solution: Only put in the amount of ink recommended in our instructions. If you have put in too much draw some of it back out. Draw it off the top and not the bottom of your cartridge. In other words, only insert your needle about half-way into

The U043 error message means there is a problem with one of the ink cartridges and the printer doesn't recognise it or there is a problem with the chip, take the cartridges out and clean them also clean the cradles they go into and try again, here is the manual for you to troubleshoot this problem:

Sir,

Call the Canon authorised service agent if u have any warranty. This is the problem with board and carriage unit.

So the problem was not with the ink tank after all.

Better to replaced the carriage unit and the main PCB board. The carriage unit is where the print head and ink tanks are sitting on.

thanks
good luck

Try cleaning the contacts of the cartridge assembly and cartridges themselves with alcohol dampened wipes until they come clean.

Ink light on changed ink still wont print

it sounds like the printer has not accepted the changed cartridge.

Try turning the printer off at the mains for 30 seconds then back on again, it sometimes works, or if that fails take out the cartridge's turn off printer for 30 mins then back on re insert inks and see if that works.

If it fails then there could well be a chip set failure on the cartridge you have replaced or maybe another cartridge within the set.

It's well worth saving the cartridge too as compatibles sometimes fail to be read by your printer but rarely the actual cartridges fail, you can put that same cartridge back in later for it to be accepted by the printer.

Wont except aftermarket printer cartridge error code "not recognized"

May be the cartridge is not detected by Kodak printer. Kodak printer works with genuine Kodak cartridges and that too brand new not refilled cartridges. The brand new cartridges have a certain code that is recognised by the Printer.Kindly buy genuine cartridges as the printer may be damaged by Non comaptible cartridges.

Try wiping the copper contacts on the new cartridge with a dustfree cloth dampened with some alcohol. Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.

Ink cartridge changed but computer will not recognize it has ink

Please try the following in an attempt to resolve this issue:

1. Make sure the unit is turned on, and not printing. The POWER light should be on, but not flashing.

2. Lower the OUTPUT tray, and lift the scanner portion to access the ink cartridges.

3. Press and release the INK button.

4. Open the CARTRIDGE COVER. Pinch the front and back tabs of the first cartridge, and remove it from the printer.

5. Place it back into the holder. Push it down gently into the holder, until the cartridge clicks into place.

6. Repeat steps 4-5 for each cartridge. Close the CARTRIDGE COVER once all of the necessary ink cartridges are re-seated.

7. Carefully lower the scanner, until it clicks into place

8. Press and release the INK button.

The ON light flashes and the printer makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the ON light stops flashing and stays on steady.

CAUTION: Never turn off the printer while the ON light is flashing, unless the printer hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

The printer doesnt recognize that the cartridges are there. We have tried unplugging the cords and taking the cartridges out and putting them in again. Also, it wont scan a thing either. ITs likes its frozen in the error. What can we do to fix this?
