Look for a gold bar thats at the top of the browser, if this drops down then the browser is preventing you from downloading it, just right click on it and allow the download

I am a complete newbie and have to download a large number of photos and images over a 3 month period.i don't know how to download the pics i want or how to download them to a folder

To start from the beginning, we must say that downloading anything using the internet or surfing the net of course needs a Web-Browser or simply a Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc.).
NOTE: The following instructions are just examples, you may try otherwise also.

If you are using Windows platform as the Operating System(OS), so it must have Internet Explorer(IE) pre-installed. Now double-click on 6_19_2012_3_22_39_am.jpg icon to get started. (if not, you may try installing other browsers, and then follow the instructions below. I presume, you have any kind of browser installed, and if I am wrong, please reply with a comment and I will tell you how to install a browser) :D
** I am using IE 9 here to tell you the process, and you may not find all the options if you use older IE versions like 6,7 or 8 ** IE 10 has all these features stated or depicted here**
The Internet Explorer (or other browser) will open with it's defined settings, either showing it's Homepage or a New Tab page. Now press Ctrl+T to open a New tab and in the address bar type www.google.com/ to go to Google.
**The address bar image is given at the bottom of this page.**
On the upper-left corner, click on images to go to Google images. In the Blank Field, type anything you wish, and press enter.
For example, I've entered "Niagara Falls at Night", and this is the result.
6_19_2012_3_41_37_am.jpg
You can also refine the result using the links on the left side such as, Large, Medium or Black and White etc.
To download the picture you want, right-click on that picture and select "Open in New Tab". This will open the image in a new tab, where on the right side, click on Full size image to get the maximum resolution of the picture. Now in that newly opened tab, right-click anywhere on that picture and select "Save Picture/image as", which will open a new window asking where to save the picture. Choose any location you want (say, Desktop) and click on Save.

6_19_2012_3_54_41_am.jpg

The Address bar looks like the following:
6_19_2012_4_15_22_am.png

In other ways, you can also grab pictures. According to my opinion, the best way is to go to www.google.com/ (don't go to images) and type anything (like, Butterfly pictures) and this will give you several results leading to different websites. Go to any site from the list you like, and save the pictures. (To go to any site, simply click on the link or right-click over it and select 'open in a new tab' to open that page in a new tab)
NOTE: As different browsers use different settings and search engines, the surfing experience and the search results may vary a lot when different browsers are used. And again, the above instructions are for the most basic purposes, and these processes can be done in many other different ways.
Hope this helps, Mrityunjay

My DVD player is not detected. Checked Control Panel and found there was no driver installed. Where can I download a driver for this. My DVD is a DVD multi recorder.

Welcome to FixYa

Dvd drivers are native to windows so you dont need to download the drivers for this. Here are things you can try to remedy the problem.

1. click on start. type device manager, click on device manager on the results field. (note this only applies for windows 7 or windows vista).

This is what device manager looks like on windows 7

malups_0.png

click the arrow next to dvd/cd rom drives to collapse it then click on dvd drive. press delete on your keyboard. This would delete the driver for your dvd drive and upon restart windows would attempt to reinstall the driver for it. Note that you need to do step 2 before you restart your system

2. click on start then type regedit, click on registry editor on the results field.

click on the arrow next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
click on the arrow next to SYSTEM
click on the arrow next to CurrentControlSet
click on the arrow next to Control
click on the arrow next to Class
now click on the folder 4D36E965-E25-11CE-BFC51-08002BE10318

if you have don it successfuly then it should look like this

malups_4.jpg

On the right pane look for upper and lower filters. delete both keys.

once you have done both steps then restart the computer. Windows should then attempt to reinstall the driver for you dvd drive

Hope this helps

My daughter has a laptop computer with Windows Vista and she is trying to connect a Lexmark X1100 series Scanner, Copier, Printer to her laptop but it says the Driver cannot be installed because it is...

The problem is a 64-bit OS has met a driver for an older OS. 64-bit OS versions use a signed driver in an attempt for better security. The Lexmark site should have the appropriate driver: http://support.lexmark.com/index?filterclear=true&page=driversdownloads&linkSelected=node4^subnode3&channel=techlibrarykbchannels&locale=EN&userlocale=EN_US . Then use the drop down menus to select which of the Lexmark X1100 series printers she has as well as the Microsoft Vista 64-bit OS. I found an appropriate driver for the X1130 there; some of the other models didn't drop down Microsoft drivers as easily. Clicking on the link for the exe will bring up a pop-up that when you scroll down will offer a download link.

The less direct method to find this driver site. Navigate to www.lexmark.com. Click on Support and Drivers. Then click on the link for the Technical Library. Then choose the link for Drivers and Downloads.

I hope this helps.

Please see the following from Java (click here)
If your system meets the requirements for an installation of the software, and you were unable to find a solution in the links provided on the Java site, please see below.
I'm not sure which version you were attempting to install, but you might try this:
Download the most recent version (1.13) of Java Ra and install it. Use it to remove all outdated Java from your system.
Run the Java Ra update utility to link to Sun's site and download the software you are attempting to install. Try installing it again...
