Canon Vixia HF M41 doesn't charge battery - red light flashing rapidly

If you don't use the battery for a long period of time even a new battery may become dead. You can try a new battery. If it still doesn't work then the problem is with the charging IC. u can also try a desktop charger instead of direct charger.

Redl ight blinking but battery(ies) fully charged

Flashing red could indicate dew sensor (camera has condensation/ damp) or other fault. See your manual Troubleshooting section.

I'm having a hard time getting my Flip HD to charge. It is brand new and this is the first time I've had to charge it. Sometimes the red light is on and steady and other times the red light is flashing. ...

I had this charging problem with 2 new Flip Ultra HD cameras...red light flashing..nothing on the screen after plugging in the USB port.

I removed the battery..plugged camera into USB port..pc recognized the camera... installed flipshare software..updated software...plugged battery back in..all good.

Why on earth the book doesn't mention these steps is beyond me.

There is a flashing red light on the charging light when the camcorder is plugged in. we just replaced the the back up battery, but the light is still blinking.

The blinking red light is normal. It tells you that the camera is plugged in and charging.

I have the Insignia HD camcorder, this is the second one I have and the second time I have this problem. The first couple of times it charges, then I don't use it for a couple of months, try to charge it...

Have you tried using an AC to USB charger?

I know that some products that charge through a USB port are not able to completely and correctly charge from the computers USB port because it is undervolted for what the device needs. (I have the same issue with my cell phone).

Also, may of a computers USB ports will power enough for data transfer, but not enough for charging the unit.

Try using an AC to USB power supply and not the computers USB ports.

Hope this works!

The red light flashes when its charging

Had this problem myself and found that the voltage of the battery was too low for the camera to charge (2.8 volt,s)
I manually charged the battery up past 3 volt,s then put it back in the camera and plugged it in--the light did stop flashing and did finaly turn green.
Or just get an external charger online for cheep.

1) remove the battery pack from the camcorder
2) connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer
3) when the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder
4) safe eject your camcorder from your computer
5) reconnect your camcorder to your computer
6) the battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder

Battery wont charge

This camera not charged via PC, you can charge the battery only with wall charger(comes with box). When camera is plugged to PC, you can´t use it as a camera, only as a memory card. You can watch your stuff in PC( PC recognise a camera as a flash memory, no more).

So, this is normal..Charge your camera with wall charger(Full charge Red light not flash!, if light flashed camera is charging) Unplug and use as usually!

Battery charge

I'd start there. Usually the flashing red indicates that the charging function is not working. A defective battery can cause this.
