Can't download photos from Canon PowerShot to PC via Zoombrowser

All of a sudden, after four years of using it, my Canon ZoomBrowser doesn't recognize my PowerShot G2 is plugged into the PC to download photos. Actually, the PC doesn't seem to fully recognize it either: It shows the PowerShot G2 when I click on My Computer, but it doesn't indicate it's aware something has been plugged in via the USB port and doesn't ask me which application I wish to use to access it. My ZoomBrowser still lets me look at photos that are already on the computer.

Very similar problem with PowerShot G5. I've installed Zoombrowser EX version 4.5 on my Vista PC, and it won't recognise the camera. I saw somewhere that this might be that the camera drivers aren't Vista compatible. Has anyone got a solution to this?

    Thanks - Rowan

I also have the same problem after I use it for 2 years.  It seems my Zoombrowser cannot recognize my Canon after I installed the other Sony Handycam program.  I've reinstalled the Zoombrowser already but still no improvement.  Can anyone help?

I have a cannon digital camera and it comes with zoombrowser. I've been using it and love it for over a year now. Recently, I connected a webcam and Skype to my computer. Now when I try to download any pictures from my camera to Zoombrowser an error comes up stating that I don't have a USB 2.0 controller port and therefore no pictures can be downloaded. I checked the cannon book and it did mention about a possible problem if another type of camera is put on my pc. Someone mentioned that it may have overriden the origiinal connection of the cannon camera to the zoombrowser and now I've lost the USB 2.0 controller? I just thought I'd share this and maybe someone had an answer to it. I wish I could help you, but maybe this will give you some insight. I am still not knowing what to do.

Can i download zoombrowser for my canon ixus sd200 camera?

You may download Canon software from here.

You don't really need to use ZoomBrowser. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as ZoomBrowser or Picasa.

I can't download pics to computer. I connect the camera, turn it on, pics come up, select pics, click download and nothing happens. Zoombrowser used to come up and with new computer, it doesn't...

Two possible solutions: 1. After the pictures come up, right-click on one of them and select "open with" and choose Zoombrowser from the list. 2. Use a card reader. Create a folder on your desktop and when the pictures show up after connecting the card reader, simply select all (highlight them) and drag and drop to the folder. From there, you can import them to Zoombrowser. typrice_188.jpg

Camera won't work with vista

There are no drivers available to make the Canon PowerShot A30 work with Windows Vista. Your best bet is to get a CF card reader ($15 or less) with a USB connector and put your card from the camera into it. Windows Vista will recognize the card reader and the photos without any drivers.

Canon zoombrowser Ex downloading problem

Go to the "Add and Remove Programs" in your Control panel.
Do a "Change" and do the 'repair program' utility.
That should fix it, good as new.
If that is not a possible option, try uninstalling. (if there is no "Change" and 'repair program') then Run the normal uninstall program.
