Question about HP LaserJet 2420dn Printer
SOURCE: Blank print out
This is laser scanner error message. The document is not being read from the data being sent. This could be a loose or damaged cable or bad scanner assembly. You can open it up and look for loose cables or connections to the board but otherwise if the scanner assembly is bad, it may require replacement. This should only be accomplished by a service professional as it is not a user serviceable problem.

EIO is the port for the network card on the back of the machine turn off machine remove card from EIO2 and install into EIO1 turn machine on and see what happens. If this does not work then open the formatter casing and remove the memory chips (OF COURSE WHEN THE MACHINE IS OFF) after removingone turn machine on and see if it boots up.
The 49 error is normally a software issue with the machine and it has locked within the network area or the memory.
Hope this helps you and please rate me

Hi Girlemom. Just had the same problem here. Lift up the lid and slide the ink cartridges to the left. If they are stuck in the middle, this will prevent the printer from starting properly. Then, unplug it, plug back in, and turn on. It should restart normally.

Check the printer again to see if a very small jam is present. If totally clear, press the Resume button. If same result, power the printer Off / On.
