I installed the new windows live beta 9.0 and it didnt work so i tried to uninstall it but i couldnt, so i then tried various other options to uninstall it, but it still wouldnt work. i think that my only other option is to reboot my laptop. i have windows vista and im not quite sure how to do it, if there is anyway of just uninstalling the windows messenger that would be very helpful.

Hi,

To delete the Internet Explorer 9 beta version, Open Control panel and open Programs and features.
In the list you will find Internet Explorer 9 of Microsoft Internet Explorer 9. Click on it and click Uninstall button.

Hope this should help you fix the issue.

Windows Live Messenger problem. I try to send an instant message and up comes the message 'None of your contacts have an instant message address defined' This started ther 22nd February. I have...

I have Windows Live myself. It works exactly like Yahoo messenger. You have to send out invites to see the people online that you know and they will see that you are online as well. That is all there is to it. Please respond back with more details if this is confusing you or you can not get it to work for you. It's so easy it's too easy. Some times people do not think of the easiest part of things. I am an Audio Engineer and was trained on how to start with the simplest issue there is and work my way up to the problem at hand. Engineering is all about the way one thinks and goes about proble solving.

Crystal eye webcam wont work on my acer aspire 6930

The cause of this problem is a combination of the new Windows Live Messenger 9 beta and McAfee antivirus trial that is installed on your Aspire.

Several solutions are availabe:

1. Simply to update your McAfee Antivirus. You can do this by selecting the update function in McAfee's interface. This should fix the problem instantly.

2. If step 1 does not work, you can, if you dont care much for the new Messenger look, uninstall version 9 and just install 8.5 again. This has no known problems at all.

3. see McAfee support site: http://service.mcafee.com/faqdocument.aspx?id=TS100601

Hope this solves your problem!

Windows live messenger

so i found a solution by myself! the beta version is not good since as ive read more people were having the same problem; that one cannot sign in to wlm beta with certain wl ID. sth is wrong when this account and beta version goes together. but you can still sign in using latest stable version of messenger. nothing easier than uninstall beta... but its a bit tricky, because there are messenger and sign-in assistant and as i discovered its better not to remove this second one! just uninstall beta messenger and installer beta package, remove all remainings of these using windows cleaner package (to download from: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) and then download installation for wlm 8.5, choose what you need to install and it should be fine! well it was in my case & now everythings running perfectly:)

When i am on msn and want to put on webcam a message appears in a conversation saying Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0x8ac70202)

This might be a compatibility problem between your webcam drivers with the new Windows Live Messenger program. You may want to:

1. Update your webcam drivers and see if Windows Live Messenger can detect it when you run the Audio Video setup from its Tools menu.

2. Or you can downgrade back to the older version of Windows Live Messenger which is compatible for your camera. Doing this however also requires that you uninstall all the Windows Live Beta products from your computer.

Note: You will not see a separate Windows Live Messenger on your Add/Remove programs, instead you will either see there Windows Live Beta products or Windows Live Essentials.

You can download the older versions of Windows Live Messenger from:

Explorer 8 is only a Beta version and not as yet fully tested, you can uninstall it and it will revert to IE7, if you can't install it then leave IE7 on
